extract local metadata, or mp4 ID3 tags -> .nfo files?
my sole major disappointment with Serviio is the inability to extract metadata from ID3 tags in mp4 files. my library is tagged with data which is often superior to that provided by the online sources, and in the case of tv series, sometimes more accurate. since the metadata is contained in each file in a standardized format which can be read by most media management software, there ought to be a way to extract it and display it. i know that may be a facile assumption on my part - my grasp of java is tenuous at best - but anyway, it certainly would be an enhancement if Serviio could access mp4 ID3 tags. i'm just sayin. is anyone working on this? is it more challenging than I think?
as a corollary question, does anyone know of an OSX application which will extract metadata from ID3 tags in mp4 files and write .nfo files with it? that's a kludge, but it would approximate the desired result. none of the media management applications i appraised can perform this seemingly simple and obvious task.
