Password protected content

Hi,

Is it possible in the free edition of Serviio, to put a password for accessing some folders I don't want everyone to get access to ?

When I right click on a shared folder (in library tab) I have two options: limited or unlimited, but nothing changes selecting either one. What are these for ?

Also there is a a place to define a password in "remote" tab. Is this only for accessing from web ?

thanks

These options are only available in the Pro version, not the free version. It allows a level of access control at a renderer level, as described here: http://www.serviio.org/buy-pro/10-uncat ... tion-rules. There is no password protection over DLNA - your renderer (TV) would have to allow it for starters (and have a method to enter it) and it would need to be standard across all devices (it isn't part of the DLNA standard afaik).

Yes, and also only available with the Pro version. See: http://www.serviio.org/buy-pro/10-uncat ... ree-vs-pro.

Re: Password protected content

I really hate feeling like an idiot.

I downloaded 1.4.1.2 and paid for a pro license. Uploaded the pro license successfully and it now shows pro in the about tab. But it will NOT let me set up remote access in the remote tab. I am sure it is because I am doing something stupid and newbish, but I just can't figure out what it is. I am wanting to use serviioGo for an android device, but when I try to add server (which is verified up and running) it doesn't see it. When I try to add manually, it asks for the remote password and I am back to seriously contemplating drinking heavily.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or tips.

Thanks.
