I am migrating Serviio to Linux (Debian Whezzy)

Hello.
I have begun an installation of Serviio to Linux Debian
I have spent a could days reading the threads and such with no luck at all getting either local content or web recourse content available for viewing.
I install using apt-get install Serviio Service and console work fine and settings are same ... as windows.. except of local drive access.. Local USB drive is on the linux box. Not to confuse I have two drive on on the windows box each contain the same content til I get this working..
One item that stands out is where does one put the Plugins. I see no where to do so. Using an example here I made a directory /usr/bin/serviio-1.4.2.1 and out the plugin folder in that directory. Still nothing
I also moved all videos to my linux share folder as well as a local external USB drive. No go.
I made sure ffmpeg-serviio version is installed.
I read many posts and tried many things.. My windows install works fine and as a test of something I may have done wrong I uninstalled my windows (8.1) version and re-installed from scratch. and it worked right out... Was watching Streaming online content and local content within minutes...

dcraw is also installed..

Any suggestions on what to do.. Specific threads I should read.. etc..

Many Thanks

To help you to configure your serviio server you should install serviio console on you windows desktop. It helps you to configure library folders, tag, refresh and more ....
Serviio is installed on Debian wheezy 64 server (with no X), and the servvio console on windows 7.

Out of interest, where did you install Serviio from using apt-get? I did it all manually with Debian. :)

Anyways, you may need to find out what user the Serviio service is running as and make sure that that user has permissions to read the folders where your media are located.

Regarding plugins, there is a plugins folder already in the Serviio folder when installed. You might need to check on file permissions also with any plugins you add there. You could enable detailed logging and see what is happening when Serviio is starting up (i.e. when it's loading plugins).
Using Serviio on Debian "Wheezy" with Xbox 360, Sony BDP-S370 & Panasonic E6.
