Windows Media Player and Indexing
Hi,
I've just got a Sony Bravia TV and have been running a series of tests to decide which DLNA server to use. I've decided to use Serviio.
Now I want to clean up my PC of stuff that's accumulated during my tests. Questions are:
1. Can I demolish Windows Media Player? If not why not? The reason for the question is this ...
Windows Media Player was included in the tests, I had to turn on Indexing which spent about 12 hours to build the indexes.
I want to save the space that the WMP library /indexing created and stop the indexing service. Am I correct in thinking that Serviio builds its own library which is independent of Windows Indexing and WMP?
I would probably like to uninstall WMP and do all my viewing on the TV.
2. Serviio appears in the WMP tree. How did it get there, and do I need it there if I'm just using Serviio?
3. My TV is a Sony Bravia W905. I think I understand Transcoding, and I've got it enabled. However, I can't see where Serviio is told to transcode in line with the capabilities of my W905. Or does it magically identify it from the Renderer List?
4. Helped by Transcoding, some of my AVIs play, whereas others aren't recognised by the TV player. Is this a known issue, and how would I correct it?
Thanks for your help.
