... Serviio do'nt see some series ...

Hello there from Germany...

... and at 1st a happy new year to all! ... and at 2nd: pls excuse my ugly english ^^

I use Serviio since a long time but not the last years. But now we are moved in our new house so I installing all back with NAS (nas4free) and a older AMD-phenom machine to run Serviio. This machine has a dedicated GbitLAN to the NAS and is also in a 19" rackmount (with a bigger UPS for all).

Yesterday I have finnished sorting all the A/V- stuff on the NAS and fire up Serviio after update to the latest version, set the UNC's to the NAS and let him scan all the stuff.

But ... Serviio only catch 6 of 15 series. Ok is:

  Code:
Dr. House
Jim Knopf & Lukas
Mondbasis Alpha 1
Stargate Atlantis
Stargate SG-1
Stargate Universe

Missing is:

  Code:
Krieg der Sterne (Starwars)
Raumschiff Orion
Startrek DS9
Startrek Enterprise (ENT- Archer)
Startrek Enterprise (TOS - Kirk)
Startrek Nex Generation (TNG - Picard)
Startrek Voyager (VOY - Janeway)

So I can't see any difference between them. All are same formated (i.e. like TNG 014 - Planet Angel One (S01E14).avi).

So is there a workarround to solve that? May can I change some that Serviio see it right as a Serie?

For Star Trek TOS, Enterprise is not in the file name. ;)

I believe you have a naming issue. Since your file names are likely in German, and I don't speak it, I can only offer how they would be named in English.

For "TNG 014 - Planet Angel One (S01E14).avi", I believe the file name should be "Star Trek The Next Generation - S01E14 - Planet Angel One.avi". I don't have any TNG files, but I do have TOS and Enterprise. Here's one of mine: "Star Trek Enterprise S01E01 - Broken Bow (1).mkv".

I don't know if FileBot supports German, but I believe it does. I'd give it a try for quick and easy file renaming.

Re: ... Serviio dont see some series ...

... hmmm ... 1st ty for the answer ...

But what I don't understand is, that i.e. ...
"Stargate Atlantis" with files like "SG°A 044 - Sateda (S03E04).avi" work well, ...
"Startrek DS9" with same named files like "DS°9 050 - Das Equilibrium (S03E04).avi" don't.

I use this naming scheme everywhere in series ( [shortname] [userfriendly episode] - [Title] ([DB readable season and episode]) ) so I can't see any why some work and some not...

Is there maybe a way to create a own database with which one can force Serviio for acceptance of the series? I think about a simple ascii-file in a series-folder that say Serviio !this is a serie!, maybe with all the filenames inside this folder to accept... something like that ?!?

BTW: Is there also a way to protect some folder or livestreams by password? I think about folder or onlinecources that is'nt ok for children (horror, bloody, xxx, ...)

... Problem solved by deleting Serviio and use of PLEX ^^
Plex has no problems to identify the series. Paying a Serviio license was a stupid idea and burnt money ... shame

Well, Plex is one solution. It still relates to your file naming convention. Did you have each series in separate folders? If so, the folder needs the correct name, and then your individual files can use the shortened names. in fact, if the folder is named correctly, all the files need is the SxxExx name.

Plex has its advantages, and I have it installed on my server as well. Overall I still have better performance with Serviio. With Plex, you don't have the option of customizing transcoding profiles like you can with Serviio. Also, Plex support isn't always the best, depending on the player (TV) you are using.

But if you're satisifed, that's what is most important.

Yes, I have, but the foldernames are of course the german names for the series. This makes sense: Some local systems and my brothers access to the NAS via VPN see the structure directly. Some original series-names are not known in germany so we can't find them later.

Overall I still have better performance with Serviio. / ... / customizing transcoding profiles like you can with Serviio

You are right. But what good is that if you can use that makes sense only in English-speaking countries?
In my view, would Serviio massive gain in utility if such things would be generated at least manually, even better if Serviio would use the recognition engine similar PLEX. Uncomplicated Flexibility is the magic word ... And that's what I miss massively (not only) in Serviio.
I also have no problem with it, to pay money for a good piece of software; I do not belong to the person who think that everything on the Internet is for nothing. But if I have paid for something, I expect that I can use it also in the country where I live ...

Maybe sometimes somwhere someone create a piece of code to solve that, maybe as a local alias - database (english <-> homecountry) or implementation of a online-search-db like thetvdb, themoviedb, ... to grab also other language titeld series and films... In the meanwhile I must use other server like plex... with all the other bads ...
