Media browser connections and bandwidth

Hi
I love the media browser and every thing else about Serviio. Thank You.

    1. How can i find out how many connections Serviio is currently handling?
    2. How can i tell when the server is maxing out my bandwidth?
    3. How can i determine what media is currently being served?
    4. How can i tell if someone is connected via the media browser from outside my home?
    5. What are the estimated bandwidths for the three media browser options (low, medium and original)?
    6. Can i tweak those settings?
    7. If a media such as a movie has already been trans-coded for media browser use, does that trans-coded file remain so that a second viewing can happen without the need to re-trans code?
    8. If i change the media browser from original to medium, why does the movie start over from the beginning?
    9. How can i eliminate non critical bandwidth and CPU usage on my PC? such as disable auto window updates, disable antivirus etc. any suggestions welcome.
I could go on and on..
P.S. I am dyslexic and have a difficulty reading stuff. but i can handle charts and diagrams quite well.

Thanx

Re: Media browser connections and bandwidth

1. There is no way to do so within Serviio. My Winhelper app (see signature) will show you active connections to DLNA devices. For MediaBrowser though it only shows one active connection (although there may be multiple external users) and even that is hit and miss due to the nature of http streaming.
2. Not within Serviio. There are third party apps that will monitor bandwidth usage (including one mentioned below), but to be meaningful you really need to monitor bandwidth usage from your router.
3. Only by monitoring the log file, which would need to be continually refreshed so not practical.
4. Same as for 3.
5. The Original is just that (whatever the bitrate of the original file is, which varies dramatically depending on how it was encoded). According to the profile, Medium has a maximum video bit rate of 1,000 kbit/s and Low has 500 kbit/s (plus a little bit of bandwidth for audio).
6. Yes, by adjusting the relevant profile in the "applications-profile.xml" file. Restart of your PC/Serviio Service is required after any changes.
7. Yes, until either a different file is transcoded for the same device, or Serviio is restarted.
8. Changing quality settings requires that the file be transcoded to different parameters. The whole file is transcoded from the beginning and the movie starts playing again from there.
9. Lots of stuff on the web. I played with a tool called "Kingston PC Doctor" for a while. Be careful with some of these tools (particularly the parts that "clean" your registry).
