No files are showing up Image, Video

So far I have only been able to get the Music files appear in the Media Browser, but nothing else is appearing for any device.

I have adjusted the presentation settings to look exactly the same as the working item (Music) and still nothing.

I do not have any weird files or filenames just your standard .png, .jpg, .mp4, mov, etc.

Serviio latest version is running on Ubuntu 18.10 I have been using it for about 10 years (on this same server which gets new OS and hardware every now and then) and haven't ever had this problem.

Re: No files are showing up Image, Video

I have searched the forum to see if this is a common problem and I haven't found any previous posts.

I have turned on the verbose logging, what other steps can I take to debug this problem?

When I look at the verbose log, what shall I look for?

Re: No files are showing up Image, Video

Media that doesn't appear in MediaBrowser is usually because the files are corrupt, or at least Serviio doesn't believe they can be played.

Also, assuming you are using Serviio 2.0, did you give the user account you use for MB access to all the necessary library locations? That was a change with 2.0, not only adding user accounts but requiring permissions to be configured for each user. To be sure, go into the Serviio console, and on the Library/Shared Folders tab open each library folder and ensure the "Users with access" box is checked for the user name you're using for MediaBrowser.

Re: No files are showing up Image, Video

Thanks for the hot tip on the permissions. Set that, and all is well with the setting. However no change the Images directory, I cannot see any files listed. I know they are not corrupt as I have thousands and thousands and I view them regularly on my home workstation (the images directory is also an NFS share) and they worked fine with Serviio 1.6, 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9

Could it be the permissions in the /images/ directory itself? Pretty sure for testing purposes I have it set to chmod 777 but I can change it to whatever I want for testing.

Any suggestions there?

Re: No files are showing up Image, Video

It certainly could be a permissions issue, although 777 should remove any problems there (as long as I'm remembering my Linux stuff from long ago). I don't know what user Serviio runs under with Linux, but that might be an issue. On Windows, Serviio uses a basic System Service account, which has limited access to some sources. If Linux is using a similar user account, that might be part of it. I would think that the Serviio log would show its ability (or inability) to scan the library locations, so that might be useful to see.
