no burnt in subs

Bit of a story.
I recorded Battle of Britain on the TV which was on the other day.
I didn't realise it was in two parts and didn't record the second part.
In the movie on the tv when the Germans spoke they had sups on the screen.
I have downloaded the movie from piratebay.
The film has an english srt but that just gives subs fr everything.
Is there a way to get the subs when just the Germans speak as it was on the tv.
I'm a complete beginner on this.

The only thing I can think of is editing the SRT file and remove any captions that aren't what you want. But man, that would be a long process.

If I play the movie on my mac using VLC the dioulouge shows up even if I take the movie out of the folder with contains the SRT file.
Which I would have though means the dialogue for when the Germans speak are burnt in.
Do you think My Toshiba TV cannot play them?
I'm sure I had them show up on a movie a good while ago though.
What settings on serviio should I have ticked apart from detect burnt in subs or whatever it is called.
The version I am using is 1.9.1 as I can't upgrade because my mac can only run Yosemite.

VLC is an extremely capable video player. It can do almost anything, so I'm not surprised it would play captions flagged as forced. For Serviio, I can't think of any settings needed to play SRT files. It's up to the player to support using the SRT, however, and unfortunately it appears your Toshiba does support them. If you could provide the TV's model number, perhaps I can find some specs online.
