Is it possible to hide subtitles?

I noticed my Samsung TV stutters with every mkv file that has chinese subtitles in it. It doesn't matter if they are displayed or not, they only have to exist in the stream.

Is it possible to hide those subtitles or allow only specific languages so that the tv wouldn't even recognized others in the stream?

Re: Is it possible to hide subtitles?

Do you have "Enable burned-in subtitles" checked in your Serviio console (on the delivery/subtitles tab)? If so, uncheck that box and that might resolve it. But since it's happening even if they aren't displayed, maybe not.

I'd like to know what format the captions are in. Can you provide the media information for one of the files? If it's a ripped DVD, they would be VOB-SUB caps, and the TV doesn't even recognize those.

In the Serviio console, in the delivery/languages tab, there's a place to specify a default language for subtitles. I don't believe it will disable or hide an unlisted language, but it will use the specified language by default for detected captions. You can use a program like tsMuxeR (https://www.videohelp.com/software/tsMuxeR) to remove a specific caption track from the file, but that means it's completely gone if you ever needed it.

Re: Is it possible to hide subtitles?

No, it's not checked. It's actually a problem of the TV. I even have it when I play a movie from a memory stick. The format is S_TEXT/UTF8, i. e. srt.

Currently I'm helping myself with remuxing. But I was wondering if it were possible for Serviio to simply hide a stream from existence.

By the way, the TV also has problems with Audio streams as well. It doesn't play Audio at all if there is an Atmos stream in it.
