Refresh now working

I am using Serviio version 2.2.1, I have noticed that since the upgrade, I can no longer update my videos. I have tried removing the root folder many times, using the built in polling mechanism, it will update movies and TV shows up to the letter "S" after that no more additions will work, forced refresh does nothing, I have tried auto update checked and off, forced refresh many times, forced metadata refresh. It stops @ the exact same number of videos - 9,383. Is this a limitation? any suggestions? Using Windows 10. Serviio 2.0 updated to over 11k files, but also did not add any new videos when i attempted forced refresh. Is this a windows issue? if so, is there a work-around?

:x

Thanks all

Re: Refresh now working

Is your entire library under that single folder? While I don't have that large a number of files, I have mine spread across four different hard drives. It does sound like you're running into a file count issue, but I know I've heard of users in the past with more than 10,000 files that all indexed correctly. But I don't know if they were like mine, located within separate folder structures.

Perhaps as a test, you might try moving some of your files into a separate folder on the same hard drive. Takes the same amount of disc space, and "moving" the files on the same drive should be very rapid, since Windows is merely changing the pointer to where the file is located.

So for example. If all your media is under D:\media, and that is your Serviio library location, create two new folders under media. They can be named whatever you like, perhaps just mediaA and mediaB. Move half of the files into mediaA and the other half into mediaB. Then go into the Serviio console, remove the existing shared library location, and add mediaA and mediaB as separate library locations. Refreshing the metadata will take a little time, but I'm hopeful that all 11k+ files are indexed.

If you don't want to move every file, you could create a new folder under the drive root (outside the current Serviio library location), and move enough files into that folder to see if that resolves the issue. Since Serviio runs under Java, there might be a limit to the number of files it can handle within a directory. I tried searching online for some info, but all I could find was a statement that in an array Java can handle over 2 billion entries. But I have no idea if that limit is applicable to their file handling system.

Re: Refresh now working

First of all, thanks for the reply, I appreciate your help.

Well I have the files in several folders, and interestingly, on my previous version of serviio which was 1.1 I believe held about 11,000 videos in 3 different folders. Currently one of the folders has about 2k, and the other about 11k. I tried rolling back to version 2.0, then uninstalling and installing 2.21 which is my current version. I tried updating video drivers, no help there. Now to be clear, my videos are on a 8 Terabyte USB Seagate Hard Disk Drive. It works very well, but since the update, I am now unable to load all the videos. It stops at the exact same video and number each time. As I said, I tried the polling option, force refresh, ect. Could this be a Windows 10 update issue? if so any suggestions, i tried turning off and on indexing for the drive as well. Also, when i pres ctrl-alt-del, i see 3 instances of Serviio console (32bit), is that what should be?

Thanks for your help

Re: Refresh now working

I think i figured it out, please spread to all newbies like myself. So I have Synology Cloud station running and it created a directory within the videos directory, so when Serviio tried to upload this, it was all cloud based, and as such it failed and stalled on the last normal file prior to the synology backup directory (which i think is normally hidden) so i simply stopped CloudSync from synology on that directory, deleted that folder and now it seems to be updating properly, I will let you know if there are any further issues, but that seems to be a fix

HAPPY, and many thanks

Re: Refresh now working

Man, I never would have figured that out. I do have some of my folders sync'd with OneDrive, but due to their size I never included my media folders. I'd have to pay a lot for that much cloud storage.

Nice work! :D
