Serviio I/O: Connection Reset Issue
Hi guys,
I posted the following on the QNAP forum but user Christian told me that I should follow it up here to see if you have any ideas.

Any ideas?

Hi Christian,
Thankyou for all the work you have put in to get Serviio all packaged up for us. Much appreciated.
I was wondering however, if anyone has had the same issue as me:
Example: Streaming 200mb mp4 file via cat5e cable to my xbox 360 using my TS-439 pro which seems to contain the optimal configuration judging by the QNAP wiki.
I am the only person using the network and can am monitoring the QNAP Bandwidth tool to see what is happening.
For most of the stream, it sits on around 200kps.... I thought this was low but the stream is working so whatever.
All of a sudden, the bandwidth drops, without warning to 0.5kbps for around 30 seconds. This causes the stream to pause for that exact amount of time.
During this time I checked what services were running and nothing new had started.... No other activity (known to me) had hit the network yet all bandwidth had disappeared.
Later, during the same 1 hour show (The Following.... not bad at all!! ), the audio would stop completely for around 10 seconds, then the video would pause, letting the audio catch back up before resuming in sync.
I've checked through the serviio logs but unfortunately they were set to INFO instead of DEBUG so I couldn't find any logging whatsoever to even suggest i'd started streaming.
Do you have any ideas? It's doing my head in!!!! How is it that a wired connection could struggle passing through packets at 200kbps on a blank network. Crazy!!
Hardware I'm using is:
QNAP TS-439 Pro (As mentioned earlier) (Latest Firmware)
Billion 7800n (Latest Firmware)
Xbox 360 (Latest Software)
I've searched high and low but can't find anyone having the same issues which is strange and as I have no idea how to monitor network traffic (I tried and tried with Wireshark but failed to see how I could monitor to and from QNAP instead of from the PC it was installed on...argghhh), I thought this would be the next best place to ask.
Thanks heaps in advance,
Adam
I then followed that post up with this:
FYI, turned on detailed logging and get this every time it disconnects.
[webserver] I/O error: Connection reset
Not sure if it's coincidence or not but it seems to happen when the server is "keeping the library automatically updated".
This time streaming to a Samsung TV (UA40D4000)
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Adam
