Tiviar Alpha+ can see everything but pictures

I have been using Serviio (v1.2.1) on my Win7-64 PC for some time and I think it’s a very good piece of software. I have three clients, a Samsung Smart TV, a WD TV live and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 device. They all work well with Serviio using different profiles. I can see movies, pictures and listen to music and I can also see streaming video from an on-line source like SVT Play.

I have now replaced my old satellite receiver with a new one called Tiviar Alpha +, which is a brand new device (how clever was that?). It has a DLNA client and trying different profiles I can see movies and listen to music from my PC using Serviio. I can also see streaming on-line video from SVT Play.

But I cannot see any pictures!

I can see the folder “Images” and sub folders and also the picture file names like “1234.jpg” and when I select one file I get information about name, resolution, type (jpg) and date. But I cannot see the picture itself.

I have installed xbmc, Mezzmo and Wild Media Server on another PC and with those servers I can see the pictures.

I have tried different profiles but not all of them.

Attached is a log file which I have tried to make as short as possible.

Can I get some help here please? I really want my new toy to work.

My device can handle everything from Serviio but pictures. It can, however, read pictures from other DLNA-servers including Windows Media Player.

At the end of the log file there is a "DEBUG [WebServer] I/O error: Connection reset". What happened here? Shouldn't pictures be the easiest thing to handle?

What size are the images?

I haven't got your device but on all my devices, I can't view pictures that are larger than 4096x4096. What I did is resized all of them to 1080 vertical height (duplicated files and kept the originals as master copies); then I was able to see them.

I believe the image transcode profile capability of serviio needs development to provide the ability to resize while serving.

This happens to both small and large images. I guess there is a software problem in my device but their support will not accept that so I was hoping that someone should be able to give me some indication with the help of the log file.
