HowTo on Plugins / Online Resources
Hey guys,
I'm going skittles here... I added http://www.syfy.com/videos/Caprica/Full%20Episodes as a Web Resource. It now shows up as a folder on my tv, but that's all. I tried changing it to an RSS feed, but then everything is gone again.
I have seen lots of documentation on how to develop plugins, but I cannot find anything which tells me how to actually USE them. So I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that more users have wondered what that Online Sources screen is there for, or perhaps even what a plugin is.
The plugins need to be copied to C:\Program Files\Serviio\plugins (in the case of Microsoft).
Could someone please explain:
1. what a plugin is for Serviio
2. what the difference is between Online RSS/Atom Feed, Live Stream & Web Resource
3. which links should be copied
And anything else which could be useful. I am gathering from reading that plugins don't continue to work infinitely, and that they should be updated from time to time. And also that not every plugin will work in every country (why not?)
I will then try to turn it into a manual which can hopefully help others make their way into the plugin universe.
