new netgear router killed servio

I have servio installed and running on an ubuntu server. Everything has been working good the last several weeks. Today in order to get a little better streaming experience i upgraded to a netgear wndr3400v2 router with 802.11n.
After the upgrade serviio is having big issues. on my samsung tv the serviio share no longer displays the serviio icon and more importantly
i get unsupprted fle type when trying to play videos and mp3's. My PS3 doesn't even se the servio share any longer. I am pretty sure the router upgrade has caused the issue but after searching the net I can't find much help. Anyone else run across this problem and is their a fix other than buying a different router?

Re: new netgear router killed servio

According to the specs on the Netgear WNDR3400v2 it contains its own "DLNA Media Server". I would suspect that if this is turned on or not completely disabled it can interfere and/or block access to your Serviio machine. I assume you are using wireless to the PS3? If you are hardwired directly to your router with ethernet, this should not play an issue as you are just switching traffic from one port to another. To test the issue, wire everything directly to your router, if possible.

You've semi-answered your own question, you changed the router and Serviio stopped working on your PS3. If you can revert back to your old router and see the problem is resolved you will want to contact Netgear for a resolution or poke around in the router configuration to see if there is anything filtering DLNA.

Best of luck!
