Is it possible to create playlists / specific content stream

Hi,

We use Serviio currently on a Win7 MiniDesktop that I have going 24/7 and love it. We watch our series and listen to our music through our PS3, it's great. But it would be even better if we could partition off some of our music so that from the PS3 I could put select "Chilled" and "Random", rather than playing my entire music collection randomly (which is rather eclectic).

So can we (or is it possible somehow) to create playlists that we can play randomly. I do not wish to download all to our PS3 before anyone mentions that. : - )

Ok, I can only see 74 pages (8 files per page) on my Samsung Blu-ray player, when I go to Serviio==>music==>playlists and load a playlist. Can this be fixed?

Gee, all mine fit in 69 pages, and I only have to stay awake for 30 hours to hear them all.

I'm not sure if this is limitation of the TV

Don't think so, because I had other streaming software prior to Serviio and that worked.

Re: Is it possible to create playlists / specific content st

so the playlist is created over time, similarly to how files are added to library. If a file location cannot be resolved it won't be included in the playlist. Now, this might be either timing or a bug. Try to find a file that is not listed on the TV and post how it's referenced in the playlist file.

You might also turn on detailed log and then look for the file name in there - it should provide information of wheather its been added to the playlist or not.

OK I turned on debug and nothing unusual except maybe this: "Playlist <<name of playlist>> has unresolved items, checking if they are in the library now"

But that happened to all the three playlists I had. I will check later if more items has shown up in my blu-ray player.

I add my music folder to Serviio, followed by my playlist folder. The files need to be in the library already, before the playlist tries to access them.
Using Serviio on Debian "Wheezy" with Xbox 360, Sony BDP-S370 & Panasonic E6.

Thay are, but one of my folders are not showing all items. I can only see 128 pages (8 tracks per page). Should be 262 pages. Also pls playlists don't show up. m3u playlist are fine, but as I said early they don't show upp in it's full (only 74 pages).

So they don't show up on your device? What about the media browser?

Folders are ok (my big folder has 126 pages), but the playlists are limited to only 37 pages or 585 files (587 for the other 2 playlists)

Maybe it has to do with playlist.groovy file that all files in playlist don't show up?

This is the kind of message we are looking for. It means the playlist has some items it cannot find in the library. Either you don't share them, or they cannot be resolved by the playlist entry - which might be a bug. Are there any more details on what items are not resolved? Did you find some tracks that don't show and can you post the entry in the playlist?

They don't have to, Serviio will try to add them later ... but they have to be in the library at some point.

To be able to see which files are not shown I ordered them alphabetically and this is the conclusion:

- Full playlist has 4494 entries [my complete music collection], all written in same manner as a m3u list, automatically generated by XMPlay.
- Serviio shows only first 592 entries and all of them shows correctly (none is skipped) [it shows 592 entries and correct entry is as no 592, checked with XMPlay].
- No entry after no 592 is shown.

Are the items from position 593 and further in your library? Can you get to them via the Folders category?

Yes all my folders are fully shown except the biggest one which has 2007 items (the rest has no more than 30 tracks each and are fully shown), but it shows only the first 1020. So by folders 987 tracks are not shown , but by playlist 3901 tracks are not shown.

Good to know. Thanks. :)
