How to get rid of meta data

To all of you advanced guys,

can anybody plausibly explain to me what the automatic insertion of meta data in video files is really good for?

My Serviio works (almost) fine with my Samsung TV. As I am concerned with OWN video files only, meta data inserted by Serviiio is disturbing and confusing. Even disabling it the file date seems to originate from some movie in the 90-es.

What I want is simple: the TV should show up
1. original file name from the shared PC folder
2. correct creation date
3. file length. With some files the later is not always being displayed.

Not more and not less than the antique WMP does. Can be achieved with Serviio?

Turn off Descriptive metadata in the shared folder config. And then use the Folders category for browsing.
