Anyway to Manually Add Devices in 1.1

I just installed Serviio 1.1 (Pro License enabled for 14 days) and was trying to see how it would work in my network. I was trying to see if I could get a profile created that would provide some level of support for the newer Roku 2 HD and XS devices. However, since they are not DLNA compliant, they aren't automatically discovered by Serviio.

I noticed that in prior versions there was an "Add" button in the "Renderer Profile" section of the page displayed via the "Status" tab within the Serviio Console applciation that would allow for manually adding devices and specifying the desired profile. However, this functionality was removed. Is there a configuration file that may be manually updated to add devices that are not discovered?

I am also testing other Mac-based media servers (e.g. Plex - won't even start properly but does have a Roku app). I have been successful in getting Serviio to serve audio and video to my DirecTV DVR, however, even with video that does not need to be transcoded, the video will puase about every 3 seconds or so for a second or more. I don't see this behavior when serviing video to the DirecTV DVR via my Netgear NAS device.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ted

Is Roku UPnP/DLNA enabled? Adding device manually will make no difference to whether it'll work or not.

Thanks for the response. To the best of my knowledge, even the newest Roku devices are not DLNA compliant. Per Roku's web site:

The Roku USB media player does not recognize networked drives (e.g. DLNA, UPnP). It supports USB drives only.

However, they are an open source platform (allow 3rd parties to develop apps). Plex does have an app that runs on Roku devices that works with their DLNA media server. As such, I would think a similar app could be developed for Serviio.

My question was initiated mainly in regards to information I found in another thread on this forum where someone was helping another forum user attempt to develop a renderer profile for a Roku device within Serviio. It appeared to me that they had some level of success (at least with audio files). However without the ability to manually add a device with a specified renderer profile, I don't even have a way to test the profile they were developing. Here is the thread I am referring to:

I don't think they ever got the Video transcoding worked out, but it sounded like audio was streaming without issue.

Thanks,

Ted
