Exasperated

I have downloaded servio 1.1 for windows 7, vcl media player, servio plug in packs, rtmpdump. Looked through numerous help topics. My TV (Panasonic TC-55ET5) recognizes my PC and the 3 stream files I have listed. I keep getting the "unable to open file" Watched the help video about configerating my firewall settings. Done all that but still nothing. My question is this..

Is there a step by step set-up site somewhere that even a software challenged person like myself can go to or is there someone on here that can set-up my laptop remotely for a fee?

Thank You

Re: Exasperated

What exactly are you trying to stream? An online source or a local file?

Have you looked at serviio.log file?

Re: Exasperated

I am trying to stream any online source on my laptop and then wirelessly to TV. If looking at a log file will get me started then I'd be happy to do so. Where do i find it?

Thank You

Re: Exasperated

Alright, calm down :)

Let's try basics. Can you tell me what online stream you are testing with? Have you made certain the stream is actually working/is online?

Simplest way to test is to get yourself VLC, then connect to serviio and see if the stream works. There maybe issue with how it's setup, or stream maybe offline.

In VLC:
- View > Playlist > Local Network > Universal Plug'n'Play > Serviio will show up in list here.

Also, review your serviio log. In C:\Program Files\Serviio\log. Read the serviio.log file.

Re: Exasperated

Dear Khurram23,

Thank You for your help. I fear that over the last 3 days I have corrupted some files on my laptop. I am going to use a "restore point" and start again. But before I do, does it matter in what order I download the files?

Regards.

To JHB50. I spent a lot of time reading your very helpful articles on wiki and I'm sure that if I'd sat back and relaxed a bit I wouldn't be in the pickle I'm in now.

Thanks

Re: Exasperated

Make sure you install java first. Then download and install serviio. The installer will do everything, including setting up autostart. Before you go add online sources, add a local directory with videos/pictures/audio and test that. Make sure serviio is working. Once that is tested, move on to other confugartions.

Let us know how it goes.
