I can't even see Serviio after installation

I have been using Serviio for about eight months - best program out there!

However, I came home from holidays and it has disappeared from my computer. It is still in Program Files but is not showing up anywhere else. I have tried opening both of the application files - the Serviio Console and the Serviio service - both without success. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both versions 1.0.1 and 1.1. They both install absolutely fine but then there is nothing else. I have checked task manager and its not there either. I am using Windows 8 but have not had a problem up until now. Very confusing!

Please help, because I have had to resort to Universal Controller which is not much chop compared to Serviio.

I have followed your directions. I cannot stop the server because it has not even started. I have tried to start it again but with no avail.

There is not even a log file in there. As I mentioned, it does not even appear to be starting up after install or when I open the Serviio file. Just can't work out why this is happening when it was working perfectly five weeks ago.

Any other ideas??

you can, but be careful. From my experience it doesn't do much good to run 2 Java versions, and sometimes Java updates introduce bugs or incompatibilities.
