1.2.1 in Ubuntu 12.10 does not detect external srt files

I I have been trying to tame Serviio on my new instalation of ubuntu in my desktop to work like my old installation on win7 did.

So I manage to compile ffmpeg with libsas support (missing from the wiki BTW) so I can burned subtitles, but now I saw that my serviio is ignoring mi srt files, only processes external subtitles in .sub files.

Im testing with a PS3, or a VLC and I force the profile of the vlc to PS3 as I was able to get burned subtitles fine with my previous win7 installation.

I can find anything related to this issue, and I've seen no configuration parameter that would make serviio ignore .srt files.

Thanks

they should not be ignored. post what your file names are and detailed log of playing the file.

Re: 1.2.1 in Ubuntu 12.10 does not detect external srt files

Filenames as as such:
Video File: /media/Storage/Media/TV Shows/Vikings/Season 01/Vikings - S01E04 - Trial.avi
Subtitles: /media/Storage/Media/TV Shows/Vikings/Season 01/Vikings - S01E04 - Trial.spa.srt

I have some with apostrophes and parenthesis.

Subtitle are forced, and in the prefered languajes I have ".spa,.esp" with is what worked on windows.

I have attached a zip with a run of the server and a petittion of the file named before. Hope I missed something setting it up!

Thanks zip!

try without preferred language (will work if you have only one srt file), or names without the dots, ie spa, not .spa

Yes! I removed the dots, and now I have subtitles! Then I discovered problems playing files with ' on the names when they where transcoding, but It's working now.

Thanks zip!!

Is it still an issue with the ' in filename? If yes, can you post the error log and example file name?

Re: 1.2.1 in Ubuntu 12.10 does not detect external srt files

I can confirm that I've been experiencing this problem as well when trying to play back external subtitles where the filename has an apostrophe in it. I don't have my DEBUG log to hand anymore but I remember the way it was formatted when I was troubleshooting the problem:

  Code:
ffmpeg -i "Mesrine - L'instinct De Mort.avi" ... subtitle=filename='Mesrine - L\\\'instinct De Mort.ass' ...

This seems to generate an incomplete command that is never executed and results in playback failure (CentOS 6.3). I tried briefly experimenting with ffmpeg but have not found any way to correctly format an apostrophe in the subtitle filename variable.

It would be good to reproduce this with a detailed log, and copy here the full ffmpeg command that was used. We can then try to fix the command and finally fix the code based on that.

OK, it might be a few days before I can post a full log but I will do so when I can.
