Serviio 'lost' after pc comes out of sleep mode.

Any experts cast light on this problem.

I have 2 devices a Samsung 5500 and an Oppo 93, connected to serviio (ver 1.4.1.2) on Windows 7 64 bit. With java version 7 update 5

They connect to ip addresses xxx.xxx.x.7 and xxx.xxx.x.9, with bound IP address automatically detected. All works well until the pc goes to sleep then after I wake it up, serviio is lost to both devices. Oshare and the Samsung pc server still are OK.

My pc shows serviio as working ok, to fix things I normally have to re-boot.

Thanks in advance for any help

Please post a detailed log capturing the server coming out of sleep.

Re: Serviio 'lost' after pc comes out of sleep mode.

Thanks I have turned on the detailed log and the pc has had a few sleeps, but the problem has not yet appeared. It is possible that sleep mode was a red herring and something else is the root cause.

I will leave the log as detailed till the problem appears and then submit the relevant section of the log.

The problem occurred between 22:30 Tuesday and 06:45 Today, the log is long so I have cut it down and zipped it, but just shout if I have cut out anything vital.

Many thanks

Re: Serviio 'lost' after pc comes out of sleep mode.

Not sure. I notice your serves IP address changes (sometimes 192.168.0.2 and others 192.168.0.6) - you may want to set this to always be assigned the same address (done in your router - reserve the address to 192.168.0.2).

You may also want to not check for library updates quite so often - perhaps set it to 30 minutes or longer.

See if either of these helps.

Many thanks for the ideas. I will try both but one at a time and report back.

Re: Serviio 'lost' after pc comes out of sleep mode.

Changing the library re-fresh did not help, so I'll try the server option. Excuse my ignorance, not exactly sure what to try here, under basic settings the router has :

Internet ip address
and

DNS Address,

Both of which are currently set to get automatically

Which do I set as you suggested ?

Thanks

Re: Serviio 'lost' after pc comes out of sleep mode.

Im still on Serviio 1.2.1 but I am suffering the same sleep issues as the OP. The TV cant see serviio after I bring the PC out of sleep, despite everything seeming to be running fine on the PC.

All devices on my network are locked to specific IPs I set on the router.

The settings menu for your router will be different to other peoples routers, on my Netgear the menu option for setting IP address to specific devices is under LAN IP setup. To specify an IP address for a particular device what I do is go to the ADD button and on the page that appears you type the IP address you want your device to have, enter its MAC address and the last box is to enter a name for it, then click finish or done or whatever it is.

Hope that gives you some idea of what you are looking for.

Mark.

Re: Serviio 'lost' after pc comes out of sleep mode.

Sorry kdp99, I lost track of this thread but kram has posted the info you need. Look for something like "Address Reservation" under the LAN section of your router config - if you cant find it post your router model and I can likely find it.

kram - "added detection of the server waking up from sleep; ticket #192" was released with version 1.3. Upgrading to the latest version (or at least 1.3+) should help your issue.

The router is a netgear DG834GT

in LAN IP Set up I Have
IP Address 192 168 01
IP Sub mask 255 255 255 0
RIP direction none
Rip version 1

use router as DCHP server (yes)
Starting IP Address 192 168 0 2
Ending IP Address 192 168 0 254

Below is address reservation

Re: Serviio 'lost' after pc comes out of sleep mode.

We have almost identical routers, you have a GT mine is only a G. Anyway..

Firstly you need to find the MAC address of your server/PC, you can google (Google "network card MAC address", or something along those lines) how to do this in windows or Log in to your router and go to 'Attached devices' section and identify your server there and copy its MAC address and make a note it its IP address as well.

Second go to the 'LAN IP' setup page and click ADD button.

In the table paste the MAC address in, type in the IP address, Give your PC or server a name.

Click ADD button, see what happens next because I cant remember, but I think that's it.

Now what should be happening is every time you restart your PC it should always be given the IP address you typed into the table.

Hope that helps.
Here is your routers documents page http://support.netgear.com/product/DG834GT there is a few pdf docs on there you can read for further info if you need to do anything else with you router in the future.

Re: Serviio 'lost' after pc comes out of sleep mode.

So far so good, the problem did not always appear after sleep mode, but I would have expected it to appear by now and it has not since I made the network change, so fingers crossed that was the fix.

Thanks again to all who helped

Still all OK with sleep mode, so I conclude that the router change was the fix. Many thanks for the help
