A few questions about Serviio
I am a HUGE fan of Serviio, been using it to stream to my toys for a few months now and I really like the way it performs - expecially since I'm running dual quad core processors and I can put the transcoder on 6 of them and have absolutely no lag at all!!!
I've run into a few problems and can't seem to find any rock solid answers on what's going on so I thought I'd post my first post. Sorry if I'm reposting anything, but I have looked for a while without success.
1. Manual metadata - I have every single episode of Doctor Who going all of the way back to the 1960's, even the Loose Cannon Lost Episodes! The file structure goes according to Serviio standards:
Doctor Who <directory>
Season xx (year) <directory>
Doctor Who SxxExx title of episode <movie file>
Now every time I've tried a different naming convention I've had different results but I've never been able to get all of the series to show up. In fact season 23 shows up under the Series section in Serviio as season 23 of The Simpsons and a few seasons just don't show up. As for the Loose Cannon episodes I've sput them into Season 964 - Season 999 and I'm assuming that there's a season maximum or something limiting them from showing up. Currently I'm using online metadata and it's mostly working as long as I keep my naming properly. I did however try to add Three's Company Season 1 today and after 5 hours it still isn't showing up in my series section. I've forced a library update, they files all show up under Video / Folders but not under Series / Docrot Who or Series / Three's Company.
2. Mediabrowser Customization - I only use the video part of Serviio so I was wondering if there's a way to change it to just auto load the Video portion, maybe even just disable and/or remove the other 2 sections as I'm using something different to stream music and don't much care to stream images. I would really like to figure out a way to have the login go directly into the video section and possibly load a grid of 10 random movies next to the navigation bar. Kind of similar to when I'm browsing folders and a folder with movies and subfolders comes up I can see the navigation window for the sub folders and the grid for the movies not in sub folders.
3. Using IIS and Tomcat - I'm already running my own Tomcat and IIS servers with PHP and MySQL support on them and I've been scouring the web for a way to use my licensed copy of Serviio Pro in them to avoid the overhead. It's not a huge tax on my ssytem, but I'd like to be able to have a single domain name using URL rewrite instead of just a redirect to <domain>/mediabrowser. Being the owner of a few domains I specifically got one to do this with and I thought I had it figured out but it doesn't work. After installing Serviio I created a URL rewrite to localhost/mediabrowser:xxxx{R:0} (works with other Tomcat applications) and since Serviio uses a secure url function I don't think it's going to work. I obviously don't want to make any license violating changes, but would it possibly work if I just droped all of my .jar files into a web app folder from my existing Tomcat server? If so I could just use one of the PHP console solutions and possibly make it work.
I know these are relatively insignifigant topics, and believe me I've spent a ton of time bench testing media servers, none have worked as well as Serviio, thanks for a stellar product!!!!
