VOB, ISO, and Library Listing

I am surprised this has not been discussed, but searching this forum for ISO or VOB returned "No suitable matches were found".

My understanding is Serviio is supposed to be able to play DVD VOB files (in the video_ts folder) ISO's.

My video library is hosted on a WHS v1.0 box and has most files in one of the two formats mentioned above and they are all in separate folders by movie name. They are accessible and I am able to play DVD menus as if I was using the disc if I access them from a WDTV device using simple file sharing. However, I want to access them now from new Panasonic with built in DLNA function.

I setup serviio, added folders by using Scan Folders option, and I see a list of movies organized into a hierarchy similar to this: Serviio>>Video>>Titles>>A thru Z

Here's where my confusion begins. If I click on the folder labeled 'C' for example, it opens the folder and shows me a list of video files with icons and name of the Movie. However, the list of video files is essentially useless because I see numerous files for every movie that begins with 'C'. For example the movie "Cars" has over 12 files. On further investigation I come to realize that these are the individual VOB files that are on the DVD including the special features, trailers, the main movie, etc.

It's just not very useful. I would have expected that Serviio would have discovered this folder, discovered the appropriate IFO file and present me with one icon for "Cars" and let the menu DVD menu structure take over from there. As mentioned before, I was hoping that Serviio would allow me to run DVD menus.

The other issue I am having is, some of the ISO movies do appear in the Library list and some of them do not. I have read posting here on proper file/folder naming conventions and I don't see any problem.

So can someone confirm that this is normal or not normal. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Bottom line, if the multiple file situation is "as designed", I guess I'll have to keep looking for another solution for my DLNA server. I don't want to waste my time with the 'missing ISO files unessarily. I worry about that one if I determine that I can set this up to see one item per movie and use DVD menus.

Re: VOB, ISO, and Library Listing

This is not yet supported. There is an open ticket for it.
