Samsung C-550 experience (mostly, ok)

Been using serviio since .1, but not always with the same devices. Since a while, serviio has been the best dlna server in terms of being compatible with most devices and it's getting better all the time. I only rarely need to pop out other dlna apps, now.

Of note, though, the Samsung c-550 seems problematic. I know there's been editable profiles since .2, but I can't figure how to edit it to make certain videos work. So far as I can tell, one .mkv file will play while another cannot (in fact, they don't even show up to browse which is what's odd - I'd expect it to show but not play like files that are truly incompatible such as AAC audio with SNR extensions). Further, the MKV has properties that are purportedly supported by the Samsung TV. I recognize Samsung are awful, so this is really a problem with them that (possibly?) serviio can only possibly work around without great effort.

Perhaps it's user error, but that's my user experience. I still have to manually transcode files for Serviio which I think work in the Samsung server. I wait for .6 with great hope!

Perhaps while DTS is supported, something related to 7 channel DTS is not? Even so, transcoding doesn't seem to engage in Serviio despite stereo downmixing being enabled for testing. On that note, while this probably isn't the support area, if anyone wants to know details of a file that verifiably doesn't work (but *seems* like it should) here's some info for good measure:

Re: Samsung C-550 experience (mostly, ok)

post ffmpeg -i of the file that doesn't show up in the support forum. This file seems to be encoded using handbrake 4.4.0 which some people reported doesn't produce playable files (had to downgrade to 3.x.x AFAIK)
