Getting going with DirecTV DVR

I am new to Serviio today. Installed Windows version on Windows7 laptop. Having issues with the folder structure - giving the console directory locations for photos, videos and music.

That aside - if I use the Windows Sample folders and files (say Desert.JPG), it displays perfectly on my TV via the DirectTV DVR and MediaShare. If I put one of my digital photos into the Windows sample directory (since I can't get any of my laptop photo directory/folders to be recognized), my photo is displayed extremely grainy.

The info on the Windows sample JPG is: 1024x768 with 96by96 dpi and bit depth 24.

The info on one of my digital photos (grainy) is: 1600x1200 with 180by180 dpi and bit depth 24.

Any help would be appreciated for botht the directory issue in Shared Folders part of Serviio console and the grainy photos PLEASE.

Thank you,

Brian

Re: Getting going with DirecTV DVR

Serviio serves 3 versions of the file (small, medium, large), where large is usually the original. The player should pick one that suits it the best - apparently it's picking other than the original.

You could enable detailed log and try to display the grainy image, then post the log.

Re: Getting going with DirecTV DVR

Petr - I got over the NAS sharing issue (new to NAS; using a Seagate GOFLEX Home 2TB unit). That problem was NOT having the Windows userid for the serviio service as a user on the NAS. Pilot error.

Focusing on the photo/JPG display issue on the DirecTV DVR - and all photos work great when displayed from my Sony BD Blue Ray player..., the DVR still does not display it well. Wondering if there's some sort of timing issue where maybe it doesn't have time to improve upon the displayed photo before it moves on to showing the next photo.

Enclosing the serviio log file. christmas2002 003 was the first photo I tried to display on the DVR fyi.

I don;t see any request for the image, only browsing to the folder. Did you actually click on the image to be displayed?

Re: Getting going with DirecTV DVR

Petr - I did select the 1st jpg file, Christmas2002 003 and from there, the MediaShare on the DirecTV DVR went into a slide show. I don't know if it's possible to select and show (and have it remain) on a single photo. I changed the time for the slideshow to 15 seconds - thinking that it would give the processing time to improve the display (sort of like you see on smartphone browsers as they improve graphic content). But no luck with that.

Any other ideas? I really can't figure out why the "... came with Windows 7 O/S.." sample graphics show great and digital photos are NOT. Again - working as we'd expect over on the Sony Blu Ray player.

Confusing...

Brian
