Difficulty changing Transcoding parameters
I have been trying to tweak the transcoding section for a specific player. I have a Sony BDP-S3100 player that seems to work best with the SMP-N200 (2011) profile. Even though this player supports native MKV files, I have some HD MKV files that are causing stutter and freezing due to bit rate. Using the -N200 profile , the file is being transcoded, but I am still seeing a bitrate of over 35 Mbps. If I pause the movie for a short while (30 secs perhaps) it will play smoothly for about 10 seconds or so. This makes me suspect transcoding issues. During all this stuttering the CPU is only running between 10-20%.
What puzzles me is that this profile seems to be calling for a max bit rate of 17 Mpbs, but the player is certainly seeing higher. What am I missing in the profile, that the bit rate is being exceeded by so much?
Also the audio bit rate is set at 320Kbps. I tried setting that at 640Kbps (it's a ripped Blu Ray, so I'd like a little better audio stream) and the movie won't even start, and FFMPEG is maxing out the CPU.
If I try the Serviio Generic profile, the player sees the server but can't connect. If I use the Sony BDP-Sx90 (2012) profile, the video is not transcoded, has DTS audio (and I can select different audio tracks), closed captions are available, and the bit rate is still running right at 35 Mbps. The problem with using this profile is that not all of my videos are visible. Well, they weren't visible yesterday, but now today I see them all. Have to look at that more closely again. Also, there is still some occasional stuttering, but not nearly as much as the -N200 profile.
