Video Quality

Sorry for the newb question, but technically when I stream a hi def mkv from laptop to my tv via my sony bdp-s590, am I losing video quality? I havent changed any settings, and honestly the hi res file looks good, but im just curious from the technical standpoint if streaming is using compression to get such smooth playback? Thanks for any help!

Re: Video Quality

It depends on if the file is transcoded our not. And even when transcoded the quality could be the same.
