Any suggestions for the NTV300SL a.k.a Netgear NeoTV Max

I just picked up a NTV300SL to give for mothers day. I thought the remote would be easy to use compared to the WD devices I have on all of the other TV sets in my home. However none of my media files show up in the device. I found this http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7910 from back in Nov. but it seems to transcode all mkv/avi. The website http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21831/~/ntv300sl-(neotv-max)-supported-media-file-formats claims that at least some mkv/avi files are natively supported though and I would prefer not to transcode when not needed. Has anyone been able to get a workable profile for this device as of yet.

Yes but all folders showed up as empty when browsed from the NTV.

Try some of the other eg. Panasonic and Sony profiles, just to see whether they allow you to see the files (they may not let you play the files, but they do change the mime type to hopefully allow you to see them). Can you also post the device capabilities - see here for details of what do to.
