I miss XBMC

I've just replaced an aging 60" RPTV and XBOX1/XBMC combination with a 64" Samsung plasma. It has made a huge difference to the picture quality but I had to retire the XBOX. I've got a couple of Apple TVs running XBMC on other TVs around the house but getting another seemed like a waste when the new TV had built-in streaming capabilities. I did some searching and came across Serviio (much better than Samsung's AllShare server software) and it is working very well but the UI on the TV leaves a lot to be desired, especially when compared to XBMC.

Should I just buy another Apple TV and install XMBC and be done with it or are there ways to improve the UI on the TV? I doubt I can do anything about the built-in software but perhaps there is better client software available? XBMC for the Samsung plasma would be the go but I know that doesn't exist

Re: I miss XBMC

I know it is poor form to reply to your own post but I thought I should at least put in an update as to what I decided.

Another Apple TV won the race. While there is definitely nothing wrong with the Serviio software, I found that the client side software on my PS64D8000 was absolute rubbish. It was well worth spending another $100 on the Apple TV and run XBMC on it. Now if only there was a way to run XBMC on the TV itself so the additional box wasn't needed ....

XBMC requires too many CPU and disk space for a TV... TV just run a firmware and are not a complete computer.
It's like asking to play to Xbox directly on TV without the console!
Either you use the poor TV client UI, or you use an additional box / computer with richer (but useless) good looking UI.

It will play it but it will only output it in 720p. It still looks very good on my 64" plasma.
