Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Setup Serviio to run under "serviio" user, following the daemon setup guide.

Alas, I still receive thesame error:
  Code:

+-14gb

But never mind all of this. By searching for the return code 134 of ffmpeg, I stumbled upon an other thread here (lost the link, sorry).
It seems that I had ffmpeg ver 0.5.1, which does not seem to go well with some setups. Updated to the latest (0.8.7) and it works fantastic!

As a sidenote, since the Ubuntu/Debian repositories are where I got ver 0.5.1 of ffmpeg from, they are obviously outdated and should not be used.

A big thanks to all helpful people here, and a big cheer to the whole Serviio team!

I have got quite a few of them, and they only started playing after I added a matching rule for mpeg4/mp3 to the transcode-anything-the-tv-can't-play-to-mpeg2/ac3 section of the profile.

To full understand, these aren't xvid or divx video codec AVI but mpeg4 something ? Can you clarify exactly what codec ? All the AVI's I have are xvid with mp3 but I had some test samples of other and they are working well with the 2011 profile.

I had the same issue with the profile that came when i Installed 0.6.0.1 (my first time with Serviio) and AVIs. I added the AVI to the last video section line (added the last line shown in the code below) then all was good.

<Matches container="asf" />
<Matches container="mp4" />
<Matches container="matroska" />
<Matches container="flv" />
<Matches container="wtv" />
<Matches container="ogg" />
<Matches container="avi" />

I really like Serviio! If not, I wouldn't have signed up so I could post. I didn't see the answer to the AVI details question from earlier, so I'll put my AVI details:

video codec DX50 name DivX 5.x/6.x
MPG4
NVOP PVOP BVOP PB
audio codec 0x0055 MPEG-1 layer 3

[ISFT] VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2 (build 2540/release)
[JUNK] VirtualDubMod build 2540/release
[USER] DivX503b1393p
[USER] XviD0050

File Length Correct
DivX Style "packed bitstream" AVI
OpenDML (AVI v2.0)
Interleave: 1 vid frame (42 ms), preload=504
Audio frames: Aligned on interleaves
Video: 668 MB (83.56%)
Audio: 124 MB (15.54%)
AVI Overhead: 7.16 MB (0.90%)

Hope it helps

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

johnboy, not sure I know what your question is ? If you have the latest version of serviio installed and a 2011 Sony tv then AVI will play natively, you don't need to edit the profile. If you have a 2010 model or previous, they are transcoded.

What model sony tv have you got ? Can you clarify what is or isn't happening ?

I read the thread and didn't see an answer to the AVI details question so I tried to give my AVI details. I have a fresh from the store (1 week) KDL-55HX729 and installed Serviio v 0.6.0.1 about 5 days ago. This was a new install on a machine that had never had Serviio before, not an upgrade.

I have seen the datasheet that shows AVI support but the AVI files I had didn't show up.

I selected Sony Bravia TV 2011 for the profile. The device name populated correctly. I have transcoding enabled. The server was working, but my AVIs were not visible. I modified the profile similar to what Lowlander had done. In your post you asked about the AVI being mpeg4 or something. So I ran a program to get more details and posted.

I guess my question would be why didn't those AVIs show up with the Sony Bravia TV 2011 profile. When I opened the xml, I noticed that at the bottom catch all files area, AVI wasn't on the list. I added it and then my AVIs worked. I was mostly posting that the profile modification allowed me to view the AVIs.

EDIT: One thing it could be is that I think for native divx stuff there's something to do in the Sony menu with VOD registration. I never did that.

I also had to do edit the profile for my Samsung UN32C6500 profile for WMV.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Hmm since 0.6 AVI play natively, you should have to update the profile.

As per this posting, this is the latest profile that works. Is this as per your sony profile 2011 settings ?
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3662

I don't think the divx vod registration makes much difference really unless your doing divx with drm from a vod source.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Yes that is the same as my profile, except that at

<!-- All Others video/audio codec will be transcoded into mpeg2ts, mpeg2video and ac3 audio -->
<!-- expected profile MPEG_TS_SD_EU/MPEG_TS_SD_NA/MPEG_TS_SD_KO -->
<Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" maxVBitrate="17000" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="192">
<Matches container="asf" />
<Matches container="mp4" />
<Matches container="matroska" />
<Matches container="flv" />
<Matches container="wtv" />
<Matches container="ogg" />
<Matches container="avi" />
</Video>

I added that last AVI line.

My model number KDL-55HX729 isn't on that list of 2011 Bravia models. I don't see any 729s on there. Mine has a different software than whats listed, perhaps its been updated, I have PKG3.507AAA

Thanks Johnboy for the HX729 GetProtocolInfo result : http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=dev ... port&#sony

It looks like a Sony USA model from 2011, strange it lacks avi / divx support give all other models from 2011 appear too.

Johnboy, to check, you have updated your firmware to the latest version ? 10/10/2011 Version PKG3.507AAA ?

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Not sure why this isn't being detected by the 2011 profile. The regex should catch it, so if it's not working then maybe this particular TV doesn't support UPnPSearch properly.
The regex is:
  Code:
<FriendlyName>BRAVIA KDL-\d{2}([A-Z]X\d2\d|CX400).*</FriendlyName>

So "BRAVIA KDL-(two digits) then ((any capital letter, X , any single digit, number 2, any single digit) OR CX400)" followed by any other characters to catch whitespace

- Writing application : transcode-1.0.6
- Writing library : XviD 1.2.0
- Format settings, Matrix : Default (H.263)
- Muxing mode: n/a

The only constant I can find is ' transcode-1.0.6' generated files are usually a problem for the tv but its not the only generator that has caused an issue. As far as a solution goes, thats going to be tough to filter out and maybe the best solution is all AVI files are transcoded to mpeg as per the 2010 profile ?

This problem comes up often and no just with Sony tvs and the issue for Sony, LG and Panasoinc is the way 'transcode' is writing the AVI files. The work around is to set for Sony in Serviio, as the 2010 profile so they are transcoded to mpeg2.

Or another work around - run the file through Virtualdub in 'direct stream copy' for both audio and video and that appears to fixes it. It took about 5 seconds for a 30min xvid so its quick. It doesn't change the formats etc which leads me think this is an error with the way in which some software is setting the headers etc. (Virtualdub highlights the following error with the original (non playing) files - "A non-zero wBitsPerSample value was detected in the MP3 audio format structure. This has been corrected in-memory to zero for better compatibility with commonly installed MP3 audio codecs.")

I'm not sure if this is the same problem the other user is having. My problem is that no avi files show up when I browse serviio. I can see and play mp4 and mkv, but not avi. The AVI files do show up and play fine when i browse using a DirecTV device.

ffmpeg -i shows the files are all divx/xvid with either mp3 or AC3 audio streams. I can post the full output if needed.

I have a US/2011 KDL55NX720 with the latest firmware and a fresh install of serviio 0.6.2. TV is properly detected as a 2011 Sony Bravia.
