My apologies if this has already been covered however i have searched and not found a response.

I have a Sony XBR HX909 and am running Serviio with great success however i've run into a couple of problems.

1) I have a few mkv files that the default audio track is in Russian. I have used MKV tools to remove the Russian track however when i go to play the newly edited mkv file, i get the response that the serveris not accessible. Does MKV tools do another change to the file making it no longer compatible with my TV? I tried replaying a few times and about 1 out of 10 tries it will start playing for a few minutes and then the message pops up again.

2) I downloaded a season of a TV show through iTunes, i note that m4v files are listed as being able to transcode however none of the files are showing up on my TV through Serviio. I ensured i had it pointing to the correct folder. Is this to do with DRM protection or is there a setting that i can change in Serviio to correct this?

This mkv file must be remuxed into mpeg2 transport stream with video codec copy ac3 audio transcoded
Turn on detailed logging (see signature) you should be able to see the FFmpeg command that is used for the transcode.
Try executing the command manually in a terminal window and post the (log or error) result here.

i can confirm DRMS and DRMI are digital rights management protected files and will not play.

there are ways to remove the protection and convert teh files but i will not talk about that here as it is totaly illegal.

Thanks for the help everyone. Illico, yes the original file plays fine on my tv, the edited one removing the Russian audio track does not. From what I understand there is no way to select the audio track through Serviio so the only way was to remove it. I didn't select any other options when remuxing, just unchecked the Russian track. I'll try playing with the options to ensure the output is in the right format.

Guess there isn't a lot I can do (legally) with the iTunes files. Good way to force people to buy an Apple TV. Seems like a waste when the tv already has DLNA.
