Hi Everyone.

Just got a Panasonic Viera P42s30. Firmware 1.1.. Installed Serviio and added my library. All my videos are in MKV or AVI format. All of the MKVs play. None of the AVIs play. All the audio msuic files ive tested so far play great. Serviio is awesome except for the .avi files.

here is the ffmpeg thing. Im currently using the Panasonic Viera profile. Transcoding on.

Re: Cant play any AVI file

I don't know if anyone has found a means around this issue, but I have the same TV and it also won't play .avi through serviio... which is particularly odd as the .avi files I tested play fine if I go through a regular DLNA connect to my computer sharing files.

If anyone has any idea on how to fix this I'd appreciate it.

If more info is necessary, which is likely, I'll try to supply it when I get done with work and have access to the computer.

Re: Cant play any AVI file

In the default Panasonic Profile, AVI files are delivered in native format (with video/divx mime-type)(supposed supported by the TV).
But you could modify the profile to transcode avi files (all avi files) into mpev2video codec supported by the TV by this way:
- Add avi transcoding:

  Code:
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3">
            <Matches container="avi" />
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="mjpeg" />
            <Matches container="asf" />
            <Matches container="flv" />
            <Matches container="ogg" />
         </Video>

Re: Cant play any AVI file

Try this profile it worked for me with another Viera TV.

Code:
<Profile id="12" name="Panasonic Viera" extendsProfileId="1">
<ContentDirectoryMessageBuilder>org.serviio.upnp.service.contentdirectory.PanasonicDLNAMessageBuilder</ContentDirectoryMessageBuilder>
<SubtitlesMimeType>text/srt</SubtitlesMimeType>
<MediaFormatProfiles>
<!-- Not supported by TC-P42X3 -->
<!-- <MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/divx">AVI</MediaFormatProfile> -->
</MediaFormatProfiles>
<Transcoding>
<!-- remux DTS in MKV to AC3 -->
<Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3">
<Matches container="matroska" vCodec="h264" aCodec="dca" />
</Video>

Re: Cant play any AVI file

maybe we just need to find a universal mime type for AVI.
