[PS3] The data type is not supported + other issues

Hi there!

I recently installed Serviio on my desktop and I'm having issues with certain video files. I have Windows 7 64bit with an i7-2700K and 16GB RAM. I also have FFDShow installed on my computer. The renderer device is a Playstation 3.

My PS3 is hooked up via HDMI to my Pioneer Elite reciever.

Here is the ffmpgeg output of the file in question:

  Code:
C:\Program Files\Serviio\lib>ffmpeg.exe -i D:\Torrents\Epic.2013.Repack.BluRay.1

Am I missing something? I really don't want to reencode a bunch of movies.

Another issue is that one of the movies I have, the audio is all static and the video plays at a high speed. If I play a different movie that loads fine, THEN switch back to the previous movie, it will play correctly.

Any help is greatly appreciated it!

Thanks!

Re: [PS3] The data type is not supported + other issues

So I tried using my 360 and Epic played with no issues. I also tried a number of other video files that didn't play well on the PS3.

The Xbox is hooked up with component video and toslink for audio.

However, I'm not getting DD or DTS.

EDIT: I did get some audio sync issues.

Re: [PS3] The data type is not supported + other issues

Probably something in the h264 stream the PS3 doesn't like. FFmpeg cannot mux DTS to mpegts container, so it changes it to AC3 6 channel.
XBox transcodes the h264 video to WMV, so it'll play as it completely changes the stream. It's converted back to stereo though (there is no FFmpeg encoder for multichannel WMA audio)

What can I do to make it work on the PS3? Use a different profile for the PS3?

Re: [PS3] The data type is not supported + other issues

You could try remuxing the MKV into an MP4 container - the PS3 plays MP4's natively.

Use the command ffmpeg -i "filename.mkv" -map 0 -c copy "filename.mp4" to remux the file - it should be pretty quick. Or use the remux tab in my tool here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=12136 which will do the same thing.

If the problem is with the h264 stream this wont help (as that stream is simply copied across), but it will help to confirm that to be the issue.

Re: [PS3] The data type is not supported + other issues

^^ Spam.

Anyways, I've been using PS3 Media Server and all my files play fine. The main thing I miss about Serviio is how it presented the files on the PS3 and that I could choose which files to index.

Ah well :(
