Serviio 1.4 not ready for prime time

I upgraded to 1.4 the other day
well first the server would not run---- after 2 hrs I got it to work (windows 7 64bit)
loaded my movies that where accessible from 1.3 do not show on the dlna player or in firefox
the movies that do show do not play at all on firefox 22---- floplayer does not load
then wow I lost the license file
I hope I can downgrade back to 1.3 and I hope the sales dept. will answer my emails to resend me my lic. file
nothing at all shows up in EI
Regards
A fan of Serviio

There is a known issue with firefox..use chrome or IE...or downgrade to the old Mediabrowser as posted elsewhere. Otherwise 1.4 works fine.

not from where I sit
I will repeat my statements again less the firefox issue
some folders that have movies in them that worked with 1.3.1 don't even show up in 1.4
movies don't play on internet explorer ,should not release,, not work with firefox
no insult just fact
I have disabled firewall as test still no go and sometimes after restart server does not restart have to reboot then restart
and no answer as to why my pro license is gone???
I did say I was going back to 1.3.1
serviio from the start has been the best media server for me then any other and I have tried a lot of them
happy new year eha

Re: Serviio 1.4 not ready for prime time

Sounds like you are using a different profile with 1.4, and that you did a cold install of 1.4 rather than overwrite 1.3 which would have preserved your 1.3 settings and licence.

You should have your license file in your mailbox now.

Re: Serviio 1.4 not ready for prime time

As I said, 1.4 works fine. I've been using it for over a month including all the beta's with Chrome, so if you have problems, look to the way you installed it.

Re: Serviio 1.4 not ready for prime time

I believe the OP is correct in saying version 1.4 is not ready for prime time.

I have been happily using Serviio for some time now without a glitch... until I upgraded from 1.3.1 to 1.4. The service wouldn't start; I uninstalled it and reinstalled it a couple of times with the same results. I then downgraded to 1.3.1 hoping I would get back to normal but the service wouldn't start either. Unfortunately, I could not make it to generate a log on either version. So now, I uninstalled Serviio and hope to wait for a good new version and start all over again while I watch my movies on a DLNA DVD player.

If someone wants to help I am willing to try.

Best regards.

Re: Serviio 1.4 not ready for prime time

It should be obvious that if 1.3.1 won't start that your problem does not lie with 1.4

Re: Serviio 1.4 not ready for prime time

@jdomi. Try re-installing Java (ensuring latest version) prior to re-installing Serviio 1.4.

Re: Serviio 1.4 not ready for prime time

@jhb50: You have quite a few posts and seem to be experienced on this for you to say something like that. Any program can screw up the program's environment (registry and the likes) in such a way that no other version of the program would work until it's all cleaned up. Thank you anyway for taking the time.

@DennyAll: Thank you very much, I reinstalled Java using the most recent version (7.45), reinstalled 1.4 and it now works. At the end, jhb50 was right, but not because of what he said, got it?

Re: Serviio 1.4 not ready for prime time

I had this problem on my windows 7 setup. Here is how I fixed it:

downloaded java 7.45 for windows (32 bit and 64 bit versions - two separate files)
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

reinstalled Java 7.45 (32 bit version)
reinstalled Java 7.45 (64 bit version)
reinstalled serviio 1.4

reboot
reconfig library
everything now works
