Which version of Java?

Which version of Java should I have on my system? Java 7 is running now, but should I allow it to upgrade to Java 8? A friend of mine had problems that he claimed was caused by Java 8. Advice?

if you're on Windows or OSX you don't need any Java for Serviio anymore, it comes bundled with the installer and is installed inside the Serviio folder.
