Descriptive Metadata

As I do not want online descriptive matadata sources in my local videos I disabled the extraction. See Fig. 1
After this some videos in MediaBrowser and also TV appear with their own thumbnail (it is what I want), some of them just with the default film stripe. See Fig. 2.

Exprimenting with different options in "Meta Data" shows different results but never all videos get their own thumbnail. Which options are to ckeck / uncheck as to get a consistent appearance of all video thumbnails?

Thanks everybody

Re: Descriptive Metadata

Your settings look ok for extracting a snapshot from the video. For some of them it doesn't seem to have worked, do you see anything weird in your log?

Re: Descriptive Metadata

Hello Petr,

see logfile from 18.9., I dont know how to interprete. Among others I found this:

-------------------------------------
2016-09-18 18:14:03,390 WARN [IndexedDiskCache] Region [online_technical_metadata] Disk cache not shutdown properly, shutting down now.
2016-09-18 18:14:03,390 WARN [IndexedDiskCache] Region [thumbnails] Disk cache not shutdown properly, shutting down now.
2016-09-18 18:14:03,390 WARN [IndexedDiskCache] Region [tokens] Disk cache not shutdown properly, shutting down now.
------------------------------------

One more: appearance of thumbnails is somehow deliberate. When testing different options and then setting them back, the result is NOT the same like initially. Results also dffer for different shared folders. Confusing. Whatever advice you give me, now I can only test on the TV and come back to you as my test version expired and I have to upgrade.

Beside this some videos on TV appear with wrong creation date and length (300 hours.) But they play well. WMP works.

Re: Descriptive Metadata

Also after changing the settings you might have to move the files or click Force video metadata refresh on the Metadata tab and then Force refresh on the library tab so that Serviio can find the new thumbnail according to the new settings.

What do you mean by moving the files?

Yes I always did both refresh meta data and force refresh library.

What did you see in the log file? What cache he means by WARN [IndexedDiskCache] Region [thumbnails]
Is there any kind of internal serviio cache to empty? Because some files which showed up correctly days ago do not show thumbnail any more. As said, the behavior is somehow deliberate.

I have to test various configs again when Media Browser works again.

Nothing weird in the log.

By moving the file I meant copy it to a different location to force reindexing. But if you did the force refresh it should do the trick already.

Re: Descriptive Metadata

For your information Petr:

I copied and then pasted one of the files without thumbnail. The new version shows up correctly. Windows "Properties" displays identical data for both.

What makes up the difference for serviio?

In none of the files with thumbnail serviio takes the 1.st frame, just some other from inside the video.
