[SOLVED] Cant see server in local network

Hi there,

Im using serviio pro 1.0.1 at a linux machine (Ubuntu 11.10) but can only see the server on the machine running serviio.
I have no running firewall, bound the ip address and set up multicast routes. The Media Browser is available trough another machine.
Here the detailed log file:

Re: Cant see server in local network (running on Ubuntu 10.1

what is the client? It looks like something is connecting from .111 as well as from .21 (localhost).

.111 used foobar2000 with upnp plugin and .21/.20 used vlc. But both dont have the server in their list.

Re: Cant see server in local network (running on Ubuntu 10.1

I just installed a similar setup, I had to add exceptions in my packet filter for lan before anything would work. Even then I could never open serviio console on another pc. I just installed xrdp on my ubuntu box and opened serviio console that way.

If you can, run an nmap scan of the server ip and make sure you can see udp 1900 and tcp 8895.

I kept having a problem with my smp-n200. I could see serviio and get a file list but couldnt stream. Turns out port 1900 was closed.

execute this on your ubuntu computer and make sure the port is listening on the correct ip address.

netstat -an | grep 1900
netstat -an | grep 8895

mine looks like this
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:1900 0.0.0.0:*
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:8895 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
tcp 0 125160 192.168.100.1:8895 192.168.100.3:40360 ESTABLISHED

192.168.100.3 is my smp-n200, the ESTABLISHED shows me that it is working correctly

Re: Cant see server in local network (running on Ubuntu 10.1

weird, .20 is talking to the server and browsing content. .111 also received device description so it went through the firewall and should see the server. Any chance of running DeviceSpy on a Windows box? (Intel tools, link in my signature)

Are you running VLC on the same machine as DeviceSpy? It should work.

I'm not a network specialist tbh, so someone else will have to help you.

Re: Cant see server in local network (running on Ubuntu 10.1

Okay my main problem is caused by my fault. My Client (VLC) wasnt up to date... and the ssh tunneling doesnt work cause serviio need a bidirectional connection and ssh can only create a tunnel for tcp ports and not for udp ports...
