I'm using Chaneru as well, and it looks like I need version 1.3 in order to stream properly.
Is there a time frame for when this beta will be available?
I tried the profile that somebody else had posted in here, and of course it didn't work in 1.2.1

I have been assisting Chaneru with testing, and I have the Serviio 1.3 beta. However, Mike has not yet released the version of Chaneru necessary to work with 1.3. He told me several days ago he is getting close to releasing it, but right now he's the only person that have Chaneru/Roku working with Serviio. The major issue has been with transcoding, and it sounds like he has it pretty well figured out. As far as Serviio 1.3, I think Petr is getting close, but I expect at least one more beta version to test before he goes public with it. This is all supposition on my part, as I am only one of his many beta testers.

Hopefully I can figure out how to become a beta tester. I've got a decent network set up here for testing.
It includes 2 diferent dlna dvd players, a roku, and a sony tv.
From the sounds of it, Chaneru 2.10 will be out shortly... I guess my best bet is to sit tight for a little bit.

Added support for on the fly transcoding for Serviio version 1.3 which is currently in beta testing. Here are the links to the Serviio profiles for Chaneru.

You need to update Serviio’s profiles.xml file by placing my change just before the “</Profiles>” line at the end of the file.
You can locate the file on a Mac by right clicking the Serviio application (not Serviio-Console) and selecting “Show Package Contents”. It is contained in the folder “Contents/Resources/Java/config”. It is in “C:/Program Files/Serviio/config” on Windows.

You may have to limit the video bit rate, ex: (maxVBitrate="2000") if Roku rebuffers using your network. You could also try unchecking “Produce the best video quality” in Serviio’s options. I would also suggest running with the lowest number of cores that can keep up with the Roku’s transfers. These options, you just have to Play with to find what works for you.
You can tell if your CPU is keeping up by pausing a movie and there should be a number of minutes on the right of the progress bar. This is how much Serviio is ahead in the transcode.

These profiles are a good starting point.

A few questions:
1. The video has an extention of MOV but Serviio is reporting MP4. "dc:title" has a type of mov.
2. "dlna:profileID" is reported as "JPEG_TN". Shouldn't this be a video type ?

mp4 and mov are basically one and the same.

the _TN profile is only related to the thumbnail resource (the other resource being the video)

DC:TITLE has the file type appended to it BUT only when the item comes from the "Folders" link.
Would it be possible to ADD the file extension to dc:title or provide another meta tag for the original type.
This really comes in handy for the user to know the original file type when transcoding a movie.

I have multiple MKV files in a folder. Serviio 1.3 transcoding is NOT selected for the files that are HD. When the HD files are played, I get an HTTP error 500. The ones that are not HD appear to play.
Is there something I need to do for Chaneru's profile and MKV HD files ?

That is my question. It looks like when ffmpeg got the information, Serviio decided not to transcode it. ( profile ? )

That looks fine.

In the Browse response you should not get MATROSKA resources, but HLS. Are you sure the browse response is rendered using the right profile? (check serviio log).

In my previous post with code tagged as "Failed Video Soap data" and "Good Video Soap data" is the browse responses in the same session. I'm not changing profiles.
I have 5 MKV files in the same folder and the two that are flagged as HD, show as MKV, where the others are HLS ????

I tried the profile with my files and all are HLS.

Can you try to browse to the folder in Intel's AV Media Controller? Don't forget to give the PC the Roku profile.

Look at the properties of the resources, are they all HLS or some MATROSKA?
