DirecTv

Not sure if this a Serviio transcoding issue or something with the DirecTv DVR that I have. Anyway, I thought I'd try watching a video on my DirecTv DVR that was served up through Serviio (using the settings that come with Serviio).

The picture is "stretched" to fill in the screen instead of leaving the black bars along the top/bottom of the screen. If I watch the same video through PS3 or XBOX, the video aspect ratio is left alone. Just the DirecTv seems to do the stretching which makes the movies seem unbearable at times.

Is this a transcoding issue? Or just a "feature" of DirecTv's dvr? I went throuh all the settings onthe DirecTv menu and was not able to fix the issue that way. Thoughts?

Re: DirecTv

its probably due to the source DAR (Display Aspect Ratio) value not supported by your device, or bladly transcoded by ffmpeg.
Could you provide information about your source file ( ffmpeg -i "filepath")or(MediaInfo result in text format:

Nothing to do with the profile.

1) its probably due to ffmpeg option used to transcode
or
2) DAR source weird

2) DAR source weird
For me this is the source problem:
720x300 [PAR 1:1 DAR 12:5]

But, during transcoding, with a proper ffmpeg option, that could be resolved.

Could you please enable serviio detailed logging and found the ffmpeg command line used to transcode this file?

Re: DirecTv

I am having issues with my two directv dvr24s. They show the video fine, but will not play the audio. I am running the latest version (0.6.2). I have read all of the posts I can find about this, and have tried adjusting the audio codec and bitrates in the directv section of the profile.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Here is a copy of my directv profile. I have tried mp2, lmpc and aac.

Re: DirecTv

I have tried different source video files. The main ones I am concerned with are straight DVD rips in 1 GB VOB format. Nothing special. (BTW, these are copies of movies I own)

Re: DirecTv

are they actualy VOB files or have u converted them to MKV? as there is no rules to transcode VOb files in the directv profile ( and tbh i dont think there is one at all ) as they are supported natively by the device.
