I have the same problem windows 8.1 using a windows fileshare on a windows 2012 R2 server to pickup content. Was it possible to test 1.5.2 beta to see if that resolves the issue?

In another thread (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18511) ZIP suggests using UNC instead of (mapped) drive letters. http://www.serviio.org/component/conten ... e?id=21#q5. Lets say '\\server\multimedia\movies' instead of 'f:\movies'.
Re: Library refresh on 1.5
While "force refresh" still continues to do nothing, I added a new video today and it showed up. So I went back, moved the videos that were still not showing up to another folder temporarily, then moved them back, Serviio finally recognizes them.
"Force refresh" should have done this. I never had this problem before 1.5.1.

Test 1:
1- I kept 'Keep library automatically updated' and kept 'Search for updates of currently shared files'.
2- I added a empty folder to the library.
3- I added some videos. Serviio added the new files automatically, almost immediately.
Test 2:
1- I unchecked 'Keep library automatically updated' but kept 'Search for updates of currently shared files'.
2- I added a empty folder to the library.
3- I added some videos. Serviio added the new files automatically (!?).
Test 3:
1- I unchecked 'Keep library automatically updated' and unchecked 'Search for updates of currently shared files'.
2- I added a empty folder to the library.
3- I added some videos and clicked 'force refresh'. After a while (about 2 minutes) Serviio added the files, as expected.
I am not a developer or programmer but I have the hypothesis that the 'force refresh' button does not work when 'Keep library automatically updated' is checked and that 'Search for updates of currently shared files' activates also the 'automatic' option no matter if 'Keep library automatically updated' is checked or not.
My suggestions for a temporary workaround are either what you did (moving files around) or uncheck 'Keep library automatically updated' and 'Search for updates of currently shared files', then do a ''force refresh', then re-examine metadata and, after (hopefully) the library is updated, tick 'Keep library automatically updated' and 'Search for updates of currently shared files'.
According to my own experience, I think that v1.5.1 have issues if you are upgrading from a previous version and you already have libraries but it works fine in 'fresh' installations.

I had tried doing that. I unchecked all boxes, and clicked Force Refresh, and still nothing. It wasn't until I moved the files that it detected them.

Sorry to hear that. Well, lets wait for the developers.

See viewtopic.php?f=5&t=247.
Re: Library refresh on 1.5
If I'm downloading something, Serviio does not update, unless I move the file out and back in. Force refresh still does nothing.
Re: Library refresh on 1.5
Have you updated to version 1.5.2?
Anyone posting to this thread should now try Version 1.5.2 to see if that fixes the issues you had.

Re: Library refresh on 1.5
Thanks, will try that.
No Library refresh on 1.5.2
Still failing with 1.5.2.
None of the tests 1-3 work for me, I have no way of updating my library.
Win7u64

Re: Library refresh on 1.5
@krikkew - what part is still failing? I looked at your post above: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18225&p=100143#p99749, and the automatic library refresh seems to be working for you (Test 1), and the Forced Refresh works (Test 3)? Is it only test 2 that you are concerned with (I tested as per your Test 2 and cannot emulate your results - for me the files were not added. What OS are you on)?
Re: Library refresh on 1.5
I edited my previous post, adding the facts you wanted.
Re: Library refresh on 1.5
When even a Forced Refresh isn't working it would suggest either a permissions issue, or the drive/folder is being detected as off-line. In either case you should get some information as to the problem by looking at your detailed log.
Re: Library refresh on 1.5
Seems to be working for me here now with 1.5.2
Thanks!
Thanks!

Libray Update v1.5.2 on Windows Computer Sucks !!!
This update does NOTHING to fix the Library update problem on a windows (7.1) 64 Bit computer. The ONLY way i can get the library to update requires a Computer reboot!!!
Not even a simple Closing and re-opening the program will force an update!

version 1.4... worked fine...
The entire 1.5.xx update has screwed around with the library, including removing the previous option that allowed to select a single drive/folder source to update.
Unhappy !!!

If this is correct, it is only related to the Update Library issue... When I reboot and the Update finally happens, all new files appear with out problem in my player!!!
The server is detecting all drives and showing them in the player, even when it doesn't update the new Files!!
Also, I have a VERY extensive Library on Multiple drives.... All Downloads are to one Drive/Folder, and then MOST are moved to their category folders on other drives... However...
When downloaded they do NOT ever show.. and when Moved to their correct Drive/Folder... they NEVER Show.... UNTIL I reboot!!!

Re: Library refresh on 1.5
When downloading are you appending the file name with a temporary extension (from memory I think uTorrent has an option to append .ut! to the file)? Just thinking out loud at the moment.
If not, we really need to see a detailed log for both startup, and then let things settle, and add a file. I tested your scenario and it worked during beta testing - it could be the different OS, different downloader or different drive types - need a lot more info in order to assist.

Can ou post a bit of detailed log of the file being added before it finished copying? Normally it should keep checking if the file is complete and then add it (run ffmpeg etc)
I'm seeing this problem too. I'm running 1.5.2 on Win7x64, and I get the following everytime I press [Force refresh]:
2015-04-25 19:58:03,590 INFO [LocalLibraryManager] Starting manual library scan
2015-04-25 19:58:03,590 INFO [LibraryOneTimeScanner] Interrupting library scan
I have [Keep library automatically updated] unchecked. Also, it only seems to work correctly if I reboot. Stopping and restarting the service doesn't seem to help.
Update (5/9/2015): I've found a workaround. If I forcibly stop and restart the Serviio service (from services.msc as an admin user of course) then click the Force refresh button in the Serviio console, it works! Not ideal, but at least this workaround works reliably.
Re: Library refresh on 1.5
Solved, Serviio not to blame!
I noticed recently that in Windows Explorer, contents wouldn't update either, until refreshing with F5.
On http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... 2560526649
I found this:
I opened COMPUTER and removed a "Network Connection" that pointed to a server that is not currently available.
I've had such a bad connection for years without this effect. Anyway, I removed the server shortcut, and now winExplorer and Serviio are happy.
