Re: Not Transcoding

I've spent the past few days doing several tests and changing several settings for a 720p vid, i've decided to give up on 1080p. The default bitrate was 384 and the video only played about 4-5 mins before dying, when i reduced the bitrate to 256 it actually played almost 20 mins before it died, i reduced it further to 248 but this time it died around 11 mins, the vid is about 22 mins in lenght. After this i did as you said and downloaded the latest ffmpeg, i don't even know how to install it but i got something the site called a static download, it had a .bat file in it which i ran but it didn't seem to do much so i decided to manually copy the ffmpeg.exe file that came with the installation and replaced it with the one that servioo previously had. This time i also started with 384, this time the vid played all the way to just under 20 mins before going off, i reduced the bit rate to 256 again and disappointingly it got only up to 13 mins before dying, so at this point i have no idea what to try again. Pls help.

How do i get this ffmpeg info result? I believe this issue mostly comes from the fact that ffmpeg doesn't display the full length of the file before it starts playing, my TV just sets the length to 00:00 while the vid plays, if it was able to scan the length correctly i'm sure it would play to the end, hopefully someone can look into implementing this feature as most of the other media servers i've tried that use ffmpeg display the video's length, but servioo seems to be the best of them for me which is why i want to try and stick with it.

Re: Not Transcoding

atc98092 has it.... possibly an ffmpeg issue...hard to say..

best to show us the profile.xml part you're using.... just the profile you're using with changes you made... not the whole xml file.

just post the text to it if you can and then we can see whats up. and update your ffmpeg if you like.. might help.

cheers
