Building FFmpeg on Linux Problem

Hi, I installed Serviio and the log tells me there is no ffmpeg installed. I used a guide called Building FFMpeg on Linux. When trying to install "librtmp" I get an download error "fatal: Could not read from remote repository. Please make sure you have the correct access rights and the repository exists".
When trying to finish the job, it is looking for librtmp.
I have two handycaps, 1. I am a noob in Linux 2. I am old DOB approx 1943
Please be kind and I thank you for replying.

Re: Building FFmpeg on Linux Problem

So I have tried something else. On reading how to install ffmpeg, it gave a choice to install from the ffmpeg developer guide. All went well with the install, no errors.

Then I did:
If you do this, you will need to use the ffmpeg.location system property to tell Serviio which ffmpeg binary to use e.g. add
-Dffmpeg.location=/home/werner/src/ffmpeg/ffmpeg to bin/serviio.sh.
So I did this and it still was the same, The Sony BlueRay player picked up the Server, but it told me no playable files.
I had a look at servio.sh and at the location I am giving, but there is no /home/werner/src/ffmpeg/ffmpeg directory there is a /home/werner/src/ffmpeg directory, so I edited the =Dffmpeg.location to /home/werner/src/ffmpeg. Did not work. I looked in the log and it still says that is can't find ffmpeg.
So could it be a problem with ownership of the files?
I also noticed that there is no location pointer to h264, does it need one.
I hope someone has the solution :)
