streaming MPGs pauses occasionally

I am streaming Serviio with a Sony BDP-S6500 Bluray player. I noticed that lately, every once in a while, DVD MPGS pause for a couple seconds while playing and then restart on their own. IT happens about once every hour or so and sometimes when it happens, it starts doing it regularly every couple of minutes. Then it suddenly clears up and i have no problem for a while. This happens with MPGS that i have played for a long time with no issues before.

I purchased the Bluray player about 2 months ago (although the previous one i was using was also a Sony within the same line and i didn't have issues). I also recently replaced my router with a new Netgear WNR2000-100NAS. The new router replaced an old Netgear router that died. I'm trying to remember if the pausing issue was happening before i replaced the router but i don't know. This router is a little faster than the old one but it's possible that there was some setting i had done on the old one for Serviio that i forgot about doing for this new one.

My big concern is that this may be a sign my HD is failing, although i only got it about 3 months ago - it's a WD Red 5TB. I also did a SMART scan on the HD and all the tests come back OK.

Can anyone help?

Without details of the file and a debug log of what is happening, one could only guess. Perhaps the pipe is clogged.

Thanks. I shoulda thought of that. It happens with various DVD mpgs and not consistenly. Sometimes a MPG will play fine and the next time i play the same file i will get the pausing.

I enabled debug mode. I'll wait until it happens again and then upload the log.
