Can't see the files (video/movies) list after server change

Hello,

I replaced the NSA325 with the NSA325 v2. There is a RAID1 built with two disks inside. Serviio was running on that storage, displaying videos on Sony KDL-40NX720.
After replacement NSA325 v2 normally works, however there is a small problem with displaying files list containing videos/movies. What I mean is that currently when I enter Serviio on my Sony Bravia I see the folders which are added using Serviio console, but without files inside.
Serviio Console -> Library -> Shared Folders -> (Add path)
/i-data/md0/video/
/i-data/md0/video/movies
/i-data/md0/video/documents
What is weird that photos are available, I see them all and I can view them on my tv. Configuration in the Serviio Console looks the same:
/i-data/md0/photo

I've tried different things to get this working, but apparently this is a bit more complicated and perhaps related to the database or libraries on the storage side. So far:
- I removed md0 and md1 links under /i-data to force a kind of refresh. After NSA325 v2 reboot they were automatically created again. Before removal I noticed incorrect pointing to a disk name which didn't exist (or perhaps it was the old NSA325 storage name) when entering md0.
- I removed all the paths (shared folders) from the serviio console and added them back. After that only photos were added, no video files unfortunately but folders are in place.
- I verified owners of the folders to be sure that this is not the issue with the rights.

Twonky Media Server shows the complete list of video files under Sony tv, but as you know I can't play them. So the problem concerns only Serviio here.
Do you have any idea how to fix this?

Thanks & regards
Greg

Re: Can't see the files (video/movies) list after server cha

When there are issues accessing files from a NAS, it's almost always related to permissions. Remember that Serviio is running as a local service, not under your user name. Typically that local service does not have permission to access network assets. You need to either change the Serviio service to run under your user name, or modify the permissions on your NAS to basically let anything on the network access the video folders.

If Serviio itself is running on the NAS, rather than being accessed from another computer, then it may be some other configuration issue, and I can't help as I have no experience with NAS boxes. But someone else here will.

Thanks. If I change Serviio service to run under my user name, will it work only for the video files (not photo)?
On the NAS side, video folders have exactly the same rights as photo folders. Permissions should be the same.

I attached two log files from NAS, should be the latest ones. Perhaps you can see something which is not easy to notice for me.
Could you please share your ideas.

Re: Can't see the files (video/movies) list after server cha

If the Serviio service is run as your user name, then it will be able to access any network asset that you can when you browse the network, so it should be good for all files, not just video.

Looking at the log file, I see virtually every entry stating the file type was not recognized. That to me is strange. They appear to be AVI files, which is a known container. The question becomes, what video and audio codecs are contained in the file? Could you post the media info for one of the files, se we can see if there's something inside that is throwing Serviio off? Of course, you said they were working before you updated the NAS.

Getting out of my expertise, as I know almost nothing about a NAS device. Just curious: can you play one of the files directly from your computer, without going through Serviio? I'm just wondering if some sort of codec package needs to be installed to the NAS. Again, I don't know how Serviio works on them.

Which actual settings and where should be changed to run Serviio service with my user name?

Here is the media file of the folder Jedna Ruka Netleska:
Jedna.Reka.Nie.Klaszcze.2003.LEKTOR.PL.DVDrip.XviD.avi
Would you need any specific media info?

I can easily play this file directly on my PC as well as other files. No issues here.
Problem is a bit complicated to me.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

If you are on Windows, then you change the authentication in the Services app. If you are using another OS, I can't help.

Yes, you need to pull the media information from the file. There are several methods to do so. Just do a search here. It's good you can play the file on the computer, so there's no issue with the file itself.

The log file is showing unknown file type. Have you installed ffmpeg? If so where? The recommend ffmpeg for ffp on Zyxel NSA is "slacker -Uai br2:ffmpeg". You might need to edit the value "-Dffmpeg.location=" in your serviio.sh script to point to it.

Re: Can't see the files (video/movies) list after server cha

Yes, I could see the unknown file type message in the log file. That was a kind of a surprise to me, because I've installed ffmpeg before on the old NSA version. Actually I used the procedure from here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=13449
These two packages were working:
install mz:lame-3.99.5-arm-1.txz
install uli:ffmpeg-1.2.1-arm-1.txz

There was nothing in the instruction of pointing the "-Dffmpeg.location=" in the serviio.sh script. I can't see a certain line for that in the file.
In the attachment you can find all available ffmpeg packages under slacker for -Uai br2. I made a search to install the one you pointed as the ffmpeg for ffp on Zyxel NSA, but I wasn't sure if ffmpeg-2.1.8_git20150612-arm-1 is the correct one.

At the end, I've just updated (reinstalled) the package from the first installation - install uli:ffmpeg-1.2.1-arm-1.txz
Fortunately it has started working :P I'm not sure why it was required, but it seems like ffmpeg was lost.

Thank you for your support!
Wish you a very positive 2016.
