Serviio Service does not start.

I have been using Serviio in the last 6 months. Everything pretty perfect.
However, suddenly the console could not start anymore, returning that message: “Cannot connect to the server, it doesn't seem to be running...”
I have already tried to start the process manually but I always get an error:
“Windows could not start the service Serviio on local computer
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion”
Anyone have an ideia about what happens ?!

Hello mnbuarque, Did you ever solve this problem? I have a similar problem following a Windows 10 update that hasn't been solved yet. I've posted the problem in the forum, but so far I don't have any answer.

My situation is similar, not identical. Windows 7. I did my usual thing with services running in the background when I don't need them. I changed it to a Manual start instead of Automatic. With other programs this has always worked for me - start the Program, it calls the Service into action - but not Serviio! To avoid this message/problem I have to set it to Automatic and then reboot. Then it works.

But I don't want a background Service if I'm not running the Program (Console), I only want it when I want it! Is there any way around this?

YOu don't need to run Console to actually stream, it's there to just configure the server. The service is the server. So if you want to stream, you have to manually start it in Services or use the shortcut in your Start menu / Serviio (as an Administrator).

Aha! Thanks zip Petr, I didn't think to look at Serviio in the Start Menu. There it is, Start service and Stop service. Btw if you're watching this thread, I must tell you I tried other DNLA servers, Plex and others, but yours is by far the best for me. I just Liked it on Facebook and will probably post about it.
