Serviio doesn't keep PC awake

Running Windows 10 on a desktop as my Serviio server and the PC is set to sleep after 45mins of inactivity.

However, when streaming from Serviio it will sleep after that 45mins although Serviio is very active.

I'm running the evaluation copy and this is the only negative I've found so far. As a btw I also run Mezzmo and that DOES keep the PC awake.

Anything I can do about this?

Re: Serviio doesn't keep PC awake

The simplest thing is to disable sleep mode. With a media server, it really should not go to sleep.

Another user has an app that can keep sleep from activating, but my mind has blanked out whose it is.

Of course I could disable sleep and that's what I've done when using Serviio - a couple of hours a day at most - but that's not really an answer when other active programs like Mezzmo or utorrent do stop it from sleeping.

But if the server is sleeping, there's no way for a media player on your network to activate Serviio and play something. That's the best reason to keep the server awake at all times. Otherwise someone has to wake the computer up at the keyboard.

Re: Serviio doesn't keep PC awake

Obviously if the PC is sleeping then I don't expect it to be woken by trying to watch something.

The problem is that whilst I'm watching something the PC sleeps. With Mezzmo , for example , this doesn't happen.

Yep, understand that part. I'm sure there's something programatically that can be accomplished, but that's up to the developer. The only computer programs I've written were designed for computers that had sleep disabled, so I'm not familiar with that area. Of course, they had constant user input, so I guess that's apples to oranges here.

I found the user that has developed an app that might help you. It's written by DenyAll, and here's the link to the post: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=12136

Thanks for that.

Just installed it so we'll see how it goes.
