To me this is the corresponding profile but as before this doesn't work. It would be useful if I could allocate a profile in serviio to AVMC but thats not possible.

Your thinking is right. You can allocate profile to AVMC, run it and in Serviio console you should see the IP of the PC running it. Assign it the required profile.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Ahh so you can, thanks Zip ! So...

Bravia 2010 profile Serviio reports via AVMC mpeg2 and it works.

Bravia 2011 profile servioo reports via AVMC avi and it doesn't work. This is the returned line;
http-get:*:video/avi:DLNA.ORG_PN=AVI;DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01500000000000000000000000000000

Generic Provile in Serviio reports via AVMC for avi as below which doesn't work;
http-get:*:video/x-msvideo:DLNA.ORG_PN=AVI;DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01500000000000000000000000000000

From page 1 the tv set reports many lines, these are the important ones for AVIs;
http-get:*:video/x-msvideo:*,
http-get:*:video/x-divx:*,
http-get:*:video/divx:*,
http-get:*:video/avi:*

The profile line for AVIs in 2011 is;
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/avi" name="AVI">AVI</MediaFormatProfile>

I've tried the others, they don't work either but yet Wild Media works to the Sony tv and yet its reporting the same information to AVMC.

I can't think of anything else to test or try as this seems to replicate a working DLNA server to the same tv. Something in Serviio seems not to be working quite right on this setup as it won't even list the AVIs.

Anything else I can try or do to eliminate any problems or any other suggestions to get AVI's working to the tv without transcoding ?

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

You could try Wireshark and capture communication between the TV and WMS. To see exactly what mime-type is passed.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Wild Media reports as below, which all ties up with what I've set Serviio to do and AVMC reports.

"http-get:*:video/avi:DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0"

Isn't it odd though that Serviio doesn't even list the AVI's on the tv set using the 2011 profile but does in AVMC ?

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

It send it to the TV, but it filters it for some reason... usually that's to do with the mime type/DLNA profile name. WMS doesn't send profile name at all in the string below, so I wonder if that might be that.

EDIT: try changing the profile to include this for AVI:

  Code:
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/avi" name="">AVI</MediaFormatProfile>

No idea whether it'll validate but give it a shot.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Line changed in the profile, AVMC now reports from Serviio with the 2011 profile;

http-get:*:video/avi:DLNA.ORG_PN=AVI;DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01500000000000000000000000000000

Not listed on the tv though.

I've installed wireshark and started snooping. I can see the traffic from WMS but not the detail even in the HEX nothing juicy :(

WMP logging, just confirming what AVMC reports
Content-Type: video/avi
Content-Length: 3530666
Content-Range: bytes 730404950-733935615/733935616
contentFeatures.dlna.org: DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0
transferMode.dlna.org: Streaming

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Hmm. there is still the DLNA.ORG_PN=AVI; bit coming from Serviio which I think might the the problem.

I've now made this possible (to omit profile name) so will see when first 0.6 beta is out. Would be great if you could re-test it then.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

actually, could you try one more thing? let's try using a supported format name for the AVi files:

  Code:
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/avi" name="MPEG_PS_PAL">AVI</MediaFormatProfile>

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Using that line they are now listed on the set, it defines them as MPEG2 though and when you press play it looks like its going to start but nothing happens.

AVMC reports this for;
http-get:*:video/avi:DLNA.ORG_PN=MPEG_PS_PAL;DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01500000000000000000000000000000

Grrr... Sony is very ?;!:*...perseverance...
Play with mime-type and name...
Do you try with this:
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/divx" name="MPEG_PS_PAL">AVI</MediaFormatProfile>

I've tried all the usually combinations in that style and none work. It's incredibly annoying given mkv are sorted and everything else. I'm sure it will come but we are exhausting options.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Can anyone confirm what is the status of subtitle support in this model series?
External?
Muxed?

2010 series doesn't work with subtitles at all (except divx from USB, but font used was a joke). I hope something changed here.

No information for the moment on serviio forum (I don't have 2011 model).

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

1. Try to play this file http://www.badsted.dk/dvb/Threshold.ts from USB and from serviio
This is a DVB stream with subtitles captured from live TV which means that they are muxed into the stream and are optional. I found it here http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=5576
When I tried it on my kdl-40ex700 it didn't started at all. When changed extension to .mpeg it started but finished after 2 seconds of black screen
If it will play on your TV use (....) button to enable subtitles.

2. Try to play some divx file from USB and with subtitles in separate .txt or .srt file (file name must be the same as movie file name).
If you can please make a photo of the screen. We will compare the fonts with the one from bravia 2010. Example here download/file.php?id=350

3. I have a divx file with muxed subtitles. It plays perfectly on my PS3, but TV don't want to play it at all. I'll try to prepare small sample.

Maybe someone else have some good samples. I think the best will be the ones with muxed subtitles, because those are the ones that have the biggest chances to work from DLNA server.

Does anyone have some mpeg2 transport stream sample that plays on bravia ex700?

By the way I'm considering buying kdl-32cx520 to my bedroom - that's why I'm so intrested

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

OK, I've tried to send sample divx file (9 MB) but failed - so I just describe what to do

1. Download file http://www.jhepple.com/support/SampleMovies/AVI_DivX.avi
2. Download http://www.calcitapp.com/getaviaddxsubs.php
3. Create AVI_DivX.srt
  Code:
1
00:00:01,040 --> 00:00:42,960
Mam przyjaciółkę, Deborę,
 która jest psychologiem

4. Run AVIAddXSubs to mux subtitles to divx. You should have AVI_DivX.divx in result.
5. Play AVI_DivX.divx on your sony TV from USB and enjoy working subtitles. In my case (kdl-40ex700) I was able to turn on/off subtitles using (....) button
You don't need to copy .srt file to USB pendrive because it's muxed as a graphic subtitles in divx file.

Now the question is:
1. Is it possible to force kdl-40ex700 to play divx file without transcoding from serviio?
2. Is it possible to force 2011 models to play divx file without transcoding from serviio?

To check if external srt files are supported over DLNA with 2011 models,
on "Sony Profile 2011", add this line
<SubtitlesMimeType>text/srt</SubtitlesMimeType>
before transcoding section
