Memory leak issue, different to anything I have seen here

Hi either since a pushed Windows 10 Home upgrade, or a self inflicted NordPass software install, I have a memory leakage issue with Serviio running. I have removed the Nord software, their support assures me that I do not have to make any additional actions to ensure that their software is fully removed. My system is Windows 10 Home, version 1909, installed on 25/8/2019, I am pretty sure this predates my issues and so points to the Nord software. My system is 64 bit, with 16GB memory, intel core i74790K CPU. My son had this hardware available as he has recently upgraded on of his systems, so although this problem started on an earlier version of hardware, in the last couple of days we have upgraded to this new hardware and the memory leakage problem exists. When running Task manager it shows memory jumping to around 97/98% before system locks, but prior to locking I cannot identify via Task Manager what is taking all the memory. If I start watching somehting via the server the memory is used more quickly, the PC then locks and I have to restart. Are there any log files that I can grab after a reset that will help with this problem in terms of troubleshooting? With Serviio off and just using Windows media server (DLNA?) my pc is stable, albeit able to run less media types etc., would really like to get serviio back and have considered running an older version - currently running 2.1 which I downloaded again yesterday and did a reinstall to no avail. Any help apprecciated.

Re: Memory leak issue, different to anything I have seen her

I maintain two computers running Serviio (I use one for testing). They are both Windows 10 on the latest build (2004). Both machines run weeks or longer without a reboot and no memory issues. And each only have 8 GB of RAM. I'm on my primary computer at the moment, and it's been a while since it was rebooted. Looking at Task Manager, it shows 4.7GB of memory in use, with 3.2 GB available. Looking through the Serviio log, it looks like the last reboot was actually Sept 9, so it's been exactly a month since the last reboot. Looking even closer at the log, I don't think that was an actual reboot, as Serviio restarted within seconds of the shutdown. I think the last actual reboot was August 15. My test server doesn't have a UPS, so it's restarted several times because of a power outage recently, but the main server does have one, so it's been up the whole time.

Based on my logs I can't say that there's a specific memory leak in Serviio 2.1.

Try running poolmon.exe it will help identify exactly which process is eating up the memory. You will have to download and install the Windows Driver kit the link to which, and instructions for using poolmon can be found at the following link:

Re: Memory leak issue, different to anything I have seen her

Hi atc98092 - I am also running same version on an HP Envy laptop as a back up with no issues, except it seems to be ignoring the power plan and going to sleep still!! I didn't realise there was a serviio log untill I saw it when I uninstalled Serviio this morning, have done this to prove to myself 100% that system does not lock with Serviio uninstalled. I thought if this was ok and I did not see same issue I would come back first with an earlier Serviio versoin and go from there.

Thanks Mike same as above I need to install Serviio again, assuming having uninstalled my memory issue has gone away, will look at your suggestion at this point. Thanks for both responses.
