Remote access not working

Hi,

I've opened up port forwarding for port 23424 on my Sky ER110 (Firmware Version 2.21.2760.R) router to point to the NAS which is running Serviio but remote access isn't working - i've tried using a browser and also ServiioGo but both just time out.

I have a QNAP TS-251, i do have some VPN profiles setup and in for use with NordVPN, would that be interfering with it in some way?

The VPN is the most likely culprit. And how are you determining if remote access is working? Just with the test button in the console? Or have you tried from a computer outside your network? How are you getting name resolution? Do you have a static public IP address, or are you using some sort of dynamic DNS? I use the latter, and have never had an issue with remote access.

But again it's most likely the VPN causing the issue. I have zero experience with using a VPN, so I can't offer any suggestions about where to begin.

thanks for your reply. Well i had a spare ip camera so i configured that with the same external port and that worked so i know the port forwarding is working on the router to local device on the LAN. Certainly appears to be the NAS blocking the forwarding to Serviio if the camera works. I have a spare QNAP, configured the same as the other, so i'll try disabling all the VPN on that and see if i get any joy..

I have dynamic DNS setup and working with dyns.cx as its one of only a few that work with Sky routers and that's all fine. I'd tested using my public ip anyway just to make sure.

ok, so i disabled all the VPN and i now have remote access working which is great! But.... i'd really like to retain the VPN connection - do any Serviio users have experience of using an OpenVPN / NordVPN connection and having Serviio remote access working with it please?
