One out of many SRT files fails

I have successfully been using Serviio to serve videos to my Samsung TV with subtitles enabled.

Several of the videos do not have embedded subtitles so I have downloaded SRT files for those videos. In all cases except one video, the SRT supplied subtitles work as expected.

For one particular video, and one only out of many, the subtitles do not show up on the television. Using the Windows Movie and TV player to view the video, I can select the SRT file and the subtitles show up. So the subtitle file is correctly configured.

I enabled the Debug log, and it shows that Serviio found the correct SRT file:

2022-07-29T20:54:47,675 DEBUG [SubtitlesService] Found external text-based subtitles file: The Dain Curse.srt

What should I be looking at to get these subtitles to show up on the TV for this one particular video?

Re: One out of many SRT files fails

SRT files can be tricky. The SRT file name has to match the video file name exactly, including spaces and punctuation. Just because one player could see the captions doesn't always mean there's not an error in the SRT file. And on rare occasions, a file simply won't work, regardless of the steps taken.

If you can't get that one to work, see if you can download an SRT file from a different source and see if that one works.

I have verified that the file names are exactly the same.

I also downloaded an SRT file from a different source. Still doesn't work.

Re: One out of many SRT files fails

Well, I've reached my limit of understanding SRT files. I don't know if a debug log would help troubleshoot, but might be worth a shot. It might register an error that describe the problem that doesn't appear in the basic log. And it might simply be one of those files that just plain doesn't work. Lousy explanation, I know.
